The Bride (2026) Frankenstein movie starring Christan Bale. Not related to DCEU Monsters

I heard about this movie and figured it would be yet another DCEU tie in based off Creatures. But it's not. It's also not related to the Frankenstein movie coming to Netflix in a few weeks.
This seems like an odd Bonnie and Clyde hybrid. Almost a crime noir. Stars jake Gylinehall and is directed by his sister Maggie.
A Dark Night reunion.
I like horror but this seems to be something else.

Arghh. Hope it's better than Folie a Deux.

I still question her casting in Dark Knight. But she can act.

Didn’t they cancel that whole monsters EU a few years back?

That was Universal monsters. WB is going forward with their monsters. They have the Bride in the Suicide Squad in the cartoon.
I think most of the classic monsters are open domain . Anyone can use Frankenstein, Dracula, etc.

It feels like campy Noir or something. Not sure what to think about it. The cast is pretty good. And I'm a big, big fan of Jessie Buckley as an actress.

Yeah that cast is great. Anyone not like Jake G is weird to me. He’s one of the best going. And Christian Bale is an all timer.
But this seems simultaneously silly and serious and full of itself based on the trailer. So not really sure what to think of it.

The style reminds me a bit of Gangster Squad (2013), which despite also having a good cast was just not good.

Insane that Warner would try that again after whiffing on joker sequel

It’s interesting, because the universal interpretation of Frankenstein (ie. his appearance), which this film seems to adopt, is not open domain.

According to IMDB a “dark comedy”

The film was already shot by the time Joker 2 was released.

Looks interesting, but some of the dialogue is a bit campy
