Let's say it rained 20 inches this month.
But the month before it rained 10 inches.
Wouldn't saying it rained 200% more this month be accurate?
There are times when you have greater than 100% when you have more then you started with.

So that's why the term is used for motivation. To day your giving more.

Not possible, only passing your limits, so you have never reached 100 percent.

If I was your coach I would tell you to take a lap for that kind of attitude.

Why do we drive on parkways but park on driveways?

I worked with a guy who was "fresh off the boat" from Taiwan with a masters in "math a matics" (as he called it).

He asked me several times how a football player was able to give 110%.

Actually, no that would be 100% more. But I get what you’re saying.

No. In this case, it rained 100% more.

ETA: Jackajester beat me to it.

I don't know, man... if the minimum number of pieces of flair at Chotchie''s is 15, and pretty boy Brian over there is wearing 37, then he's wearing 147% more than required.

I once heard Dale Brown speak and address this comment. He said anyone asking for more than 100% of your effort is asking you to fail

That’s not how it works. Something can increase by more than 100% but you can’t eat more than 100% of a pie, for example.

Just because they’re both percentages doesn’t mean it works the same way. It’s two different concepts.

It just means to give that little extra.

Shouldn’t be difficult to understand.
