Kelly Blaming Players is ridiculous... He created this situation by retaining Sloan.

Bryce Underwood flipped to Michigan on November 21, 2024. Some posters said earlier this season "It was too late in the game to go get a new OC." But November 2024 is not too late to make a decision

The word on within circles was that Sloan was a QB guru and we needed to keep him in order to ensure we got a "generational" talent in Bryce Underwood.

Guess who has started to look pretty good? Yea... Bryce Underwood... And he is doing it at Michigan with some meh talent around him. He's a freshman and will look like a freshman at times, but he is going to end up being very good.

But here we are holding on to an OC who cannot scheme a run game to save his life, continues to run RPO and read option with a QB that every team in the nation recognizes will never actually keep the ball and run it himself.

I feel for Nuss. It must really suck to have a coach who is trying to fit force you into a gameplan that does not at all match your skills.

Lets revisit Saturday.

1st drive: We have to settle for a FG after a stalled drive when Nuss was looking pretty good up until our line allowed a sack.

2nd Drive: TD, Nuss was on fire

3rd Drive: Vandy forces us to kick a 52 yarder... Something I've never been confident in Ramos being able to do consistently. At this point I was questioning why we didnt punt instead of giving Vandy a short field when we had shown no ability to stop them.... HORRIBLE COACHING

Hey but guess what, defense came up with a stop on 4th down to give us back a short field with a bit under 2 minutes left to go. We can milk the clock and score and go into half down a score or leading.... But instead we have zero clock management, kick a field goal and give Vandy plenty of time to drive the field and get those points back... HORRIBLE COACHING

In the second half we get all the way to the 2 yard line and instead of trusting the players he had on the field and not give vandy a chance to sub, we wait about 25 seconds, waste a timeout, change personnel and end up having to settle for about a 20 yard field goal. HORRIBLE COACHING.

Then the defense finally gets back to back stops and what happens?

We immediately lose yards and attempt to run from distances comparable to how far our fans had to travel to get to Nashville.... Then we punt... twice.... down by 1 score late in the game in a game where we have mustered up 3 stops all game against a team that looks to have perfected the grind the clock....

I was a Kelly defender.. I felt like he was the right person for the job at the time of O being fired... But his inability to get an offense and a defense working at the same time has killed any excitement I have for LSU football.

The defense was not great on saturday but they gave us 3 stops and that should have been enough.... we would have all killed for 3 stops when we had Jayden behind center.

I now question why we even fired Orgeron. I think he would have eventually found good coordinators again and the NIL world makes a quick flip extremely easy if you have good coaches.

Sloan has to go.... and Kelly needs to feel the heat.

We can blame Sloan but it all comes down to awful OL play.

Yes, problem is a lot of those guys wait years for an execution date while the tax payer keeps paying to house them.

Which is exactly what’s happening here.

continues to run RPO

nothing wrong with this except he makes the wrong reads. so maybe he needs to learn his reads or just shitcan it. he does not have a run option as a Qb in a RPO only a ZONE READ which yes we should never run.

RPO's are not zone reads

this team cannot run joe bradys pro style spread or even denbrocks hybrid spread concepts. sure as shite cannot run power spread or air raid or spread option. Those are the 4 branches of the spread.

we should be under center to get a downhill run game going then use play action pass linked plays with that. see 2011 with Lee. if u cannot run from the gun that means they do not respect your pass game and/or your o line blows.

is it a bold move? because Ramos has never given me any confidence in anything over 40. Trot out you offense and hope for a PI or Trey'dez making a play.

I heard Nuss talking to the press. He said they were not on the same page. When pressed he said not individuals, they were not on the same page as a unit. I imagined the eye roll meme at that point.

When a qb says that, you know he has lost his offense. Time to get the next guy in.

I disagree players have some blame also. When Chester gets run over allowing a sack I can't put that on any coach. When Weeks doesn't plug the hole on 4th down at goal line that isn't on a coach. When Nuss wastes at least 2 timeouts a game trying to audible late that is not on a coach.

The so called best defensive player on our team can't tackle worth a shite and constantly takes terrible angles that is on him...him playing coverage is on the coaches. I

DK we have a ton of issues and need to clean house and get a staff in here that can motivate our players and coach them up.

We've NEVER had a coach who consistently blamed the players and took NO responsibility.

Underwood has been underwhelming. He’s had one good game but otherwise has looked mediocre to bad for a supposed generational prospect.

That said, it was always stupid to hitch your wagon to him and Sloan with that. Sloan never should have gotten the promotion but as usual, Kelly reacts a year to two too late and wastes the talent on the team.

Yes, our OL sucks. But our Oline isn't calling RPO's with an immobile QB. Our Oline isn't calling dig and hitch routes on every play. Our Oline isnt' the reason we haven't thrown to a WR running down the field. Our Oline isn't the reason we have ZERO flow to a game.

Stop protecting Sloane. I don't get this irrational protection of this clearly incompetent "OC". He is NOT an offensive coordinator. You could fire Davis and replace him with the best oline coach tomorrow and this offense won't change. Sloane and Kelly are the problem. But because tubo gave Kelly too much money, we are stuck with him. Sloane is the first piece to remove. Followed by Davis, then Hankton, then Frank Wilson.

The OL definitely is not SEC worthy. That being said Sloan does nothing to help them out. I watch games throughout Saturday where QB's are getting rid of the ball in a hurry on a short side hitch, and small pocket rolls where a TE ends up absolutely wide open on a backside crosser. We have two of the fastest players in the SEC and we never use them on jet sweeps where you can formationally block guys and out leverage them.

Our Offense in totality is garbage.

Our Oline can't block
Our receivers can't catch or run routes
Our running backs can't find the hole. And the 1 running back that can, hardly sees the field.
Our QB has no clue what's going on, almost as if he got in a car wreck over the summer and developed amnesia.
Our OC can't call a complete game to save is life. He calls RPOs with an immobile QB. Run plays on 3rd and 26 late in the 4th. RPOs to the same side of the field where either the run or pass ends up in the exact same place therefore the defenders don't have to move at all.

The entire offensive unit needs to be fired. And when we've bled enough money to Kelly, we need to send him packing as well.

Which coach is responsible for the offensive line, the blocking schemes and the play calls?

Pretty sure it's Sloan. After Sloan, it's Kelly.

The players aren't playing well, and they aren't showing any signs of improvement. That's on coaching. PERIOD.

Underwood has only had one bad game. He has had 2 good games, and the rest of have been average. He also doesn't have to throw the ball as much because Michigan can actually run the ball.

For a True Freshman, he looks pretty good, and he will get better. He doesn't have the wideouts LSU has. With all of that said, Ohio State will make him look real bad, but it looks like they're going to run through everyone this year.

Would he look better than Nuss behind LSU's 4th grade peewee O line and shitty play calling? NOPE

Not only did he hire and retain Sloan, but he’s in the building and on the practice field every day, every week. I don’t know if BK knows how or has the will to get involved with the coaching and preparation. It shows on the field and it tells me that getting a new OC probably won’t help much.
