You’re still spending 50 million if you fire him next year or the year after

Let’s be real even with a new OC he’s still not getting it done in 26 with a full roster rebuild, you’ll still be paying him 50 million, 10 for this year and a 40mil buyout, if by some miracle he makes it to 27 before getting canned, it’s still 50 million 10/10/30, The money is already spent, and he’s not going to leave on his on, who would even want him.

Does it say in the contract how the money has to be paid out? LSU is just finishing the Orgeron buy out. I would assume its not a lump sum buyout. Hopefully the idiots that gave him 10 years have an extended buyout period. The other problem is Indiana just gave their coach anextension and raised him to $11.5 per year. So, the floor is going to be high on a new hire because the agents will use that number for negotiations.

People will mention roster money on top of all that as a reason we can’t fire him, but in reality good coaching with a cheap roster beats a $20 mil roster with shite coaching, as we saw yesterday.
I say we sacrifice the roster $ for the next couple years and pull the trigger. We’re gonna be arse anyways.

There are no “roster rebuilds” in the Portal-NIL era. It’s not 2008 anymore. Get with the times.

Every single extra dollar should be saved and allocated towards firing Kelly. There is zero reason to even try to buy him another expensive roster. He isn’t winning shite with it.

It absolutely is a roster rebuild even in the portal. Most if not all of these guys are gone. The playmakers anyway

That’s the story every season now. You go to the Portal and get what you need for the roster every offseason. You act like this is 20 years ago with recruiting out of high school and a multi-year rebuild when it’s not.

I am sure this sounded better in your head and I am assuming you flunked math. In your comparison value of firing BK now you dont count 10 mil or more a yr for paying a new coach...

You forgot to use the risk free rate to discount the cash flows and calculate the present value, otherwise you are not comparing the actual cost.

A new offense in 2026 with new coaches, players, while paying off old staff isn’t going to be cheap. The money LSU administration thinks they are saving by keeping Kelly another 2-3 years will likely be spent and they will fire him anyway.

Yall are a bunch of idiots paying this much for a coach for that long a period of time. Now stuck with an albatross.

Same was said about the Defense last year. Kelly has proven that he can build an Offense and a Defense. Now the real question becomes cane he do both in the same offseason.

It’s going to be very expensive to do this. It’s going to be a shite ton of money. By the time you spend all that money to completely revamp our offense you will likely have spent the same amount if you just fired Kelly 1 or 2 years earlier(as in after this year). I’m not saying it will cost 50 million, but the 10-15 million is going to get eaten up quickly so Brian can start all over again with his offense.

No it isnt, because we arent gonna fire him.
Our boosters arent forking out $50+ million and paying another coach $10+ million a year in this economy. We arent penn state.

Yes 10M/ year on 1 HC is the contract
Do you think it is wise to spend another 10M/year on a second? So you have 20/M a year wrapped up in salary?
And then NIL budget goes down??
It’s a horrible contract and the AD should be held responsible, especially after witnessing first hand the debacle in college station.
Unless you have an extra 50M you don’t need, it’s not going to change for a while.
Heck, look at the softball coach. If anyone should be gone but isn’t why does anyone think they’re planning on paying a 50M buyout.

The buyout gives CBK $50,000,000.00 reasons to lose.

If LSU has to fire Kelly in the next 18 months they should consider hiring a neophyte. Hire a young coach who looks extremely promising but has not risen to the level of being considered for the big programs. In that way you could pay a small salary - maybe $3 million per year - with huge incentives for making the playoffs (maybe $8 million), making the final game (maybe another $2 million) and winning it all (another $4 million). This would allow LSU to digest Kelly’s ridiculous buyout. If the new coach fails we’d be close to finished paying off Kelly’s contract and can search for a big name. If he succeeds we’d be looking at a long dynasty. I would appreciate having a coach who is incentivized to win.
