The Saddest Reality that is indefensible as a head coach..

Has anyone else ever seen a successful team/offense, where you can say that the “offensive identity” is WR quick screens.
I have never seen it. Maybe someone else has.
If you told me, that any power five schools main offensive play, were lateral passes to the WR’s, I would by default assume that school would have a horrible offense.
The fact that our “offensive identity” = WR screens, is pretty embarrassing.
The defense got us two 3 and outs when we needed it most, and our offense did nothing when it mattered the most.
Let’s not mention that expecting the D to get 3 straight and outs, instead of expecting that our offense could convert a 4th and 8, is absolutely infuriating. If this coach had 0 confidence that the offense could gain 8 yards to keep the game alive, what are we doing.

Matt Canada and the 2017 Jet Sweep offense.
ETA: I forgot you said successful. If I remember correctly, this guy and Coach O got in a fist fight in the locker room at half time.

Is this offense schematic or Nuss' failures to do anything more than that? I saw a lot of folks defending him yesterday and said he played a great game while completing a high % of passes. But, of all these passes, only two, TWO, were inside the numbers all game. Everything is lateral. We have no drags, slants, post patterns games at a time. It is the lowest level of offensive strategy.

On the last two drives there were called screens.
Regardless of execution issues, we were having our best day rushing against a conference opponent and abandoned the run entirely to do that. And do it poorly.
It’s definitely Sloan.

Who decides where the WRs run routes? Do you actually think the college QBs design route trees? When Les was here he was regularly accused of being afraid to throw over the middle after J Lee. Did the QBs do it anyway? Of course not.

Where some of this is true, some isn’t, Trey’dez caught a drag yesterday, maybe you need to pay attention to the game a little closer. They also ran posts ( that were covered ) and he rightfully didn’t throw to but at the same time the WR on one instance should have broke that route off to a slant due to the blitz and it would have resulted in a first down. To your point of only two passes inside the numbers, some may be by design within the game plan for whatever reason and the other factor dictating that is how the defense is playing/ covering.
To Nussmeier’s defense, he would have had another TD pass and about 30-50 yards had there been more focus and discipline on a false start and holding penalty. When your QB is getting hit or pressured on over 40% of your drop backs, you lucky the QB had the stats he had, especially without a turnover.

This offense has way too much talent at the skilled positions to be this bad.
Yes, the line struggles a lot, but line play is about 20% of the problem in the whole of our offensive struggles. Play calling, QB decision making, play execution, situational awareness, unnecessary rotations, and play design make up about 80% of what’s wrong with our offense.
Joe Burrow went to the Super Bowl playing behind the worst line in the NFL. I know Joe and Nuss are not comparable, just making the case that teams have succeeded despite not having the best Oline. This entire offensive staff has decided to die on the Nuss bus, when it’s obvious that his lack of mobility and unwillingness to run really limits what we can do as an offense.
Realistically expecting us to win out at this point is wholeheartedly comical.

Yada yada yada. He would have seventy yards less if not for that miracle arse play that looked like a 1A high school team. Nuss sucks and he know he sucks. So he cries.

I’m really worried about next year. If the wheels fall off this season, I don’t think you’ll get the same NIL participation which means you can’t pay those transfers. Then you’re going to lose a ton of people to the draft and transfer. We might win 6 games.

Good point. Going to be very tough for BK to get any financial support for next years roster after what he has done with this 18 million dollar roster. Not to mention what an a-hole he has been about it. Next year will be a wasted year unless we bite the bullet and move on after this season.

Yes. It would be another wasted year. If this year was supposed to be “see you in the championship,” both the coach and us as a fan base or delusional. I’m still can’t blame any of the losses on the defense. Vandy wasn’t their best game, by a long shot, but this offense is a mess.
Considering the Zavion play was a busted play, produced by his effort and his effort alone, means this offense really only schemed up 17 points. ???????

The 2003 LSU team ran bubble screens with Skylar Green all the way to a Natty.

I was a Big Skyler Green fan back then. I don’t remember us running 6 to 7 lateral passes per game back then. Maybe once or twice.
I could be wrong.

This.
Sometimes in today’s college football world just a few stops is what is needed. Unless you are playing a brand of football from the early 2000s.

You are not listening to the Kelly supporters. Coach O left the program in shambles. Kelly only needs another decade and a couple hundred million in NIL money.
Coach Cig says maybe how you talk don’t matter about winning football games. Google me.
Kelly is a fraud. 5-10 against ranked teams.

This is 1/3 of what Tennessee does. It’s WR screens, runs, and deep balls.

Actually Mett threw mofo regularly. Some QBs are terrible decision makers or accuracy deficient, or even both.
