Are there any alleged "review bombed" movies that ended up pretty good?

Not talking about "poorly reviewed"

I mean movies that were specifically alleged to have been "review bombed"

Can we be honest and start with the understanding that 'bombing' goes both ways? Stan accounts and bots are far more likely to exist to pump up the numbers, not downvote it. There are account names which include the name of the movie and post almost about nothing else.

Yeah the term review bombing is mostly misapplied these days.

Consumers genuinely disliking something and giving overwhelmingly negative feedback isn't review bombing, its them giving their actual opinions which studios and their flunkies want to dismiss so they label it review bombing.

Actual review bombing is very difficult to do these days. In the early days of online reviews when just a small number of people were doing them and they were very few safeguards in place it was somewhat easy for a small group of people using a coordinated effort to flood the review system.

The pool of people leaving reviews is much bigger and there are now a lot more safeguards in place to detect inorganic coordinated activity.

MDB reviews suffer from both sides of the coin movies and shows can suffer from review bombing or hyper inflation of reviews

It's why RT had to change their audience scores to verified audience members to better combat review bombing

JFC why do you sound like a shill. Literally sounds like a "Variety" press release.

Does Captain Marvel count? I thought that was pretty good. It made a lot of money. Not sure if it was "review bombed."

The only review bombed movies are the ones certain types support. It never goes the other way even though we know studios pay for positive reviews and sites vet positive reviews for studios like Disney.

Other than maybe Thor and Iron Man 2, There really aren't any pre Endgame movies i don't think are decent.

one that comes to mind on the flip side is "The Promise" with Oscar Isaac. That was review bombed by a bunch of leftist that deny the Armenian Genocide.

The LA Little Mermaid wasn't terrible.

Looking at every review bombed movie. I was hoping to find one to argue for. But they all sucked. Most review bomb movies likely deserved it.

It is harder to find a source of reviews that isn't associated with the industry they are reviewing.

It seems like the priority is inherently to support (at least the more important) studios or else you lose the insider access if you are a member of the media.

FWIW I'm curious what happens to the review scores I provide via my AMC plan. I noticed after giving a couple of one star reviews that they don't consistently solicit my ratings now.

No movie deserves to be reviewed by someone who hasn't seen it.

Yeah, that is pretty much my take

It seems people reading the tea leaves of films have been as accurate, or more so, than any other system

When people see a pattern, they see a pattern
