In general in life on a scale from 1-10, 10 being the happiest. All things considered. One the one hand, I have a family, a home, money, friends, and I don’t have any health problems. I have a lot of laughs, and I know how to appreciate beauty in life. On the other, i have ideas and abilities that will just die on the vine, because my independence is basically gone, due to all of the above.

Happy as a pig in slop!

Happiness from all the things money can’t buy.

You mean “as a clam”? If so please edit, because you have brought me to 6.9.

Nothing is perfect... so a 9.8

I love this life and everyone I spend it with.

I'd give it a solid 10 but for my own shortcomings I hope to improve upon.

Day to day average probably 7.5, but that takes work.

One of the things unhappy people often miss is that it takes work to be happy, from a variety of angles of life. Yes randomness influences this to a degree, but thinking it's all random just leads to jealousy, which will never make you happy.

My work presents a lot of opportunities to remind myself that my problems are typically small, though.

Content? 8

Happiness is fleeting. Contentment is long lasting. Contentment comes in part from fulfillment/meaning which is missing in most of our cold corporatized lives.

Men need some physical risks and the ability to create or build. Without it we lose our way.

-Good job that I'm great at
-Amazing wife
-Get paid well enough to cover my bills, invest and save for the future and still enjoy a bit of it
-Wonderful extended family (including in-laws)
-Solid friends

All of this combines to create a low-drama and high-satisfaction lifestyle.

My life is solidly between 8 and 9.

I think that I have a pretty good life.
Me and my wife are both in our early 40. Kids are both in high school and happy and healthy.
We both have good careers that we are happy with. Make enough money for everything we need and the occasional spur of the moment beach vacation.
Other than having to relocate a few times for my career that took us farther away from family, life is great

10. I have lost everything (in the material) and have gained the only thing - Love of God in Jesus. A wise old Priest once told me God wants you to do something in the future that will make you very happy. But His ability to make you happy in that "something" depends on your "yes" to him now.

Let's just say it took my mistakes in life to remove all the inordinate attachments to help me see that ONLY thing that matters is our union with God. Now I am serving God (Hey Abraham was still serving God at 92) and I am supremely happy. Do I still have struggles? Yep, but I see Him in the struggles working to guide me.

God alone suffices.

Internally, yes. Its all about clearing out the shite and embracing the good.

Nothing externally will fulfill you.
