You mean Joe, right? Unless John may be his given name? Bonamassa is one of the greatest blues guitars in the world. I think he is consistently ranked up there with the best alive today. Exceptional vocalist too. This is one of my favorites.

My bad. I’ve been watching some of his live videos. Great stuff.

He's a great, great player, but I still haven't heard that song that makes me a fan.
It's like that sometimes for me. I never cared for Blackberry Smoke until recently. Then I heard them do ' Keep On Smilin' with Jimmy Hall and then 'Whatcha Know Good', now I'm a fan and listen to their previous music with a different frame of mind.

Yea, great player but not a great songwriter.

He’s never had “that” song.

It's like that a lot of times with really great pickers. Many of them will lean on their guitar work and get very self-indulgent in that department, instead of being a servant to the song.
That's what made ZZ Top so great. They would make their songs epic in a short period of time.

I saw him open for Jeff Beck years ago and was stoked. He played perfectly, clean, all the licks. But I didn't feel anything. Just didn't hear any soul in the music. Jeff Beck, on the other hand...

I've tried to get into his music but there's not one thing I've heard from him where I was like "wow, I got to hear more."

he is great, i'm not a huge fan of his music but i am a huge fan of listening to him talk about guitars and music. his knowledge and enthusiasm for guitar is unmatched. just watch anything on youtube "joe bonamassa nerdville interviews", a collection unlike anything i've seen. seems like a really nice guy too.

His song/video “Drive” is a fantastic song that is somewhat different for him.

Love a lot of his stuff but that song makes me want to get in my vehicle and go for a drive.

I heard Derek Trucks say one time in an interview, “I’ve seen guitar players that can hit every note on the fretboard and can’t make you feel a single one of them.”

Took my dad to see him at the Seanger a few years ago because he's a big fan. He is probably the best technical guitar player I have ever seen. Good version of Going Down by Freddy King. His song Woke up Dreaming is great as well.

Especially solo guys like Joe. Sometimes it takes a band to come up with something special.

Great guy. Great player. He owns some of the coolest gear in the world. He has one of the best guitar faces you’ll ever see when he plays.

But, he ain’t no Link Wray.

Extremely talented guitar player, and it stops there. Not a great songwriter, with zero charisma. He is an AI version of Eric Clapton.
He made some type of strange career decision the keep himself in anonymity, while relying on PBS special to get himself known. He should sue his agent and any career advisors for abuse for career abuse and fraud.

Same. I saw him live and enjoyed it. I checked out some of his recorded stuff but never go back to it. He comes to Shreveport about once a year, but I haven’t been back. I’m sure I’d enjoy it, but it just doesn’t grab me.

Great description of how I personally feel about Joe Bonamassa's music. It's like he read all the book's on how to play blues guitar and he perfected it. I actually really like watching him nerd out on guitars and amps in youtube videos. You can see his passion and knowledge. He can play with the best of them. But the music he puts out just doesn't capture me at all.
