Who do we pull for this weekend and where can LSU afford a 2nd loss?

Of course pulling for upsets in any of the other conferences that could get 2+ teams in, but what about in conference? I'd assume we want Ole Miss to keep winning and give UGA another loss, but not sure about others and their mix of schedules. We could feasibly have 6 SEC teams at 10-2 or better to end the season, so there isn't enough room for them all to get in.

Assuming LSU finished 10-2, where is that loss the most acceptable to make the playoff, making assumptions on how other teams would finish? Bama? A&M? OU?

I want OM and ND to lose...but that is pretty much every weekend. Be nice to see arkansas beat A&M which isn't out of the question with those 2 teams.

If we finish 10-2 we’re pretty much in no matter what.

I think you’d want ole Miss to win out because they already beat us, a 4 point loss on the road to a team who goes on to win a lot would look better. I think they will lose to Georgia tho, sadly, Alabama would be the other loss you’d want, Texas am at home will be easier than Alabama on the road.

LSU goes 10-2 and they are in the playoffs. Go 9-3 and they are out. It’s that simple.

No need to worry about what anyone else is doing. Just win.

Not if 6 Sec Team have the same record, then a lot of subjectivity about SoS, who looks better, who had better wins etc. plus you have to overcome historical bias Bama, Georgia etc

The path for LSU to make the playoff is simple. They have to go undefeated in October which means beating Vandy and A&M. This gives them room to split the bama and OU games which are both on the road and the toughest games they have left. So to answer the question they can afford 1 more loss to either bama or OU but they need to win 1 of those. This is all assuming Arkansas at home in November is a win as well which it should be

Win out and we’re hosting (possible bye).
Lose 1 more and we’re in but likely playing on the road.
Lose 2 more and we’re probably sitting home.
Nothing else really matters.

We can survive 1 more loss and it could be to anyone other than Arkansas and WKU.

Any more than 1 more loss and we are done.

Given that, OU on the road in the last game of the season would be the “best” one. If we are 10-1 going into that game, we pretty much will have a playoff spot (having quality wins on the road vs Vandy and Bama and home vs aTm) already locked up unless we just get blown out in an embarrassing fashion

Thank you.
I’d like to see Ole Miss lose every game the rest of the season, unless a win would DIRECTLY help LSU get into the playoff.

Wrong. It would be more realistic for them to fall out of the standings than hope they give LSU a "quality loss'.

Ole Miss has to go to UGA and to OU over the next two weeks. They aren't as good as LSU made them out to be. They will be exposed over the back half of their schedule.

That means we make the playoffs no matter what so it really doesn't matter where the loss comes.

you would think this but bama would be the type of win that could get you in if you're on the cusp. I personally think you have a better chance if you beat bama and then have a let down loss to A&M.

I think we want Bama to win that and give Tennessee another SEC loss. Sucks that Bama’s loss was OOC to FSU. I think we want them to probably win out giving other SEC teams losses along the way. If we beat them, we’ve beaten a 10-2 (7-1) team on the road. If we lose to them, we’ve “only” lost to an 11-1 (8-0) team on the road.

Hate to pull for Bama—and when the game starts, I’ll probably pull for Tennessee, but we need similar teams to us to lose.

Said it a few times. Ole Miss will have at least 3 losses before the season is over. Starting with their first loss this weekend against Georgia.
