Seems lately it doesn't ever participate in market rallies, but ends up gaining a little or only declining slightly on down days. Are they hedging or is their cash position just too large?

Take this with a grain of salt, but I thought I remembered that BH was overweight cash, taking profits. In preparation for more favorable acquisitions period in the near-to-mid term … a belief based on world economic outlook?

They also hold a large stake in Occidental that hasn't paid off yet, but I think it will over the next 5 years.

BH holds a ton of cash because as he stated it's hard to find value and a large enough position to basically move the needle for them. He is not anticipating our calling any market predictions. Just stating the reality of the sheer size of BH. Harder to grow when you are so massive and they are not going to throw good money at bad.

The future is AI stocks. When your holdings only account for apple and maybe a few minor positions in a couple more companies your returns are going to struggle. For the last 3 years non AI stocks have done poorly, I don't expect that to change in the near future or probably ever. AI will cause complete destruction. If the new Leadership doesn't start investing in AI I don't expect BRK-B to come anywhere close to keeping up with the market, probably will struggle to beat future inflation, assuming inflation rises when rates are cut and we run this economy hot like many expect.

Well that's something, curious how much work you do with modern AI. I use it everyday and you are easy overinflating the near term

This playbook won’t work post-Covid.

Check out financials for the last 3 years. Check out ABBV…there’s been plenty of good, non-AI stocks.

I own a bit of it. It’s up quite a bit since I bought it but you’re right that it doesn’t move up or down on any given day. It appears to be a safe place to keep some investment money.

Lol, the exception doesn't disprove the rule. It was meant as a general statement.

Lol, I thought this was an investment forum where we talked about investing, not trading. I'm not at all that interested in the near term. No where in my statement did I say near term. I think you are overinflating what I wrote .

Ahh…didn’t realize it was now the “rule” to only own AI stocks. Nice rule…till it isn’t.

You are making large general statements around an industry that does not generate much revenue at this time

Generally making these types of statements always end up bad.

You are not describing a sound investment strategy that we would promote on the money board

I just see the future and you don't. Several AI companies are making tons of money, I guess you can't see that. Keep your BRK-B if you like. Market is green all over today. How is BRK-B doing? Apple isn't gonna be enough to keep up with the market, I warned you.

People have been saying that for decades about Buffet
Tech bubbles
Property Bubbles
Covid
He wins — don’t grade —- own !

I mean Buffet is the goat. Just saying that he isn’t appreciating the severity of debasement that we are living through in a post-Covid world.

Owned it 9 years. It's up 280+%. Buffett's approach means it won't chase large market upturns, it won't drop anywhere near as much when the market tanks, and it will rise when the market recognizes it is making profits. It sometimes zigs when the market zags.

How old are you? Your take is naive.

Berkshire and Buffet have outlasted numerous bubbles. A wealthy conglomerate that has a good track record of buying successful businesses has made significant profits for many for a long time.

Having an AI position is great. Thinking this is the only way to make money is cute. Almost child-like.

Long term investor turns to daily data to support arguments.

BRKB is not running hot right now, but he has been really clear on his positions. I am comfortable for the next bit to continue to ride with him.
