wtf do yall see in them?

You don’t have to worry about food.
You see multiple places without the fatigue of traveling.
The rocking/humming of the boat makes for good sleep.
Course we don’t go Carnival.

A cruise to me is moving from spot to spot in my Xpress while pursuing the largemouth bass

Stay away from carnival and you will be fine. Cruises are great on the right line.

There are many different types of cruises with different destinations for all budgets. We are not going on 3 day Carnival out of Mobile/NOLA but have been on two European cruises. It was a good way to see many different places in shorter periods of time without moving our kids from hotel to hotel every other day.

Recycled food (ask me how I know), employee poor hygiene, cheep booze, and infected pool/hot tubs What is not inviting about that?

I’ve taken a couple bringing the whole family
And I would never choose to do it with just the wife and I on a normal cruise to the Caribbean
But I’m looking forward to trying one during the school year that’s longer than 15 days in Europe or Greenland/Iceland something like that. I’m sure it’s an entirely different experience.

saw... it used to be if you picked a longer (and obviously more expensive) cruise out of a good port they were great and minimal... culture. We haven't been since before covid.. still pissed COVID cancelled our week and a half sail through the panama canal!! but yea... seeing some of the social media coming out of cruises these days... I've told my wife we took our last cruise years ago and didn't know it

Maybe Viking or Amawaterways.

Google A few other ones:
Oceania
Holland America associated with history channel
Viking
National Geographic
And a few others way out of my price range.. Not everyone wants a booze cruise
Pick something 2-4 weeks long.. visit places every day and have a room and dinner waiting for you when you are done exploring island..volcanoes..Greek landmarks , whales etc..

Bartender/Banquet
If it did run out on the morning buffet, work into afternoon dishes, if it didn’t run out for lunch, work it into dinner, etc etc. You may have shrimp from the breakfast buffet that winds up in a gumbo the next day. Leftover Cakes and pies end up in a mixed dessert made into a dome cake. They push the limits. “Cook it longer it kills anything was the motto”

I have taken over 80 cruises in my life. Only once on Carnival and that was enough to scratch them off the list and I was in my 30's when I took that cruise.
For me a cruise enabled me to get away and relax and recharge. In the next 17 days I take the shingle off the wall and call it a career. After that I have a two week Panama Canal cruise in November. Then, taking the kids and grandkids away for a week in December. Leave January 1, 2026 for five weeks to South America and Antarctica, spending a week in Machu Picchu, then 23 days on the cruise ship and finishing up with a week in Buenos Aires, Iguazu Falls and Rio. Finishing up this cruise fest with a 120 day San Diego to Miami World Cruise leaving in March 2026.
A cruise allows me to see places around the world and gets me closer to places where I can jump off the ship and fly quickly to see places inside a country. I have never been into activities on the cruise ship. Just give me a nice suite and balcony with a few books and a couple of bottles and I will relax from port to port. One thing I learned from my wife's death is that the money does not go with you.
The only negative I have about cruises is not enough time in each port. I have sailed on a couple of residential cruise ships as I thought of moving full time to a ship when I retired but the pull of family has caused me to decide to skip that journey.
Unsure if I answered the original poster's question, but that is what I see in a cruise.
