The issue I believe is he’s been tagged by our opponents as the weak link so, of course, they put their elite, Harold Perkins-type, pass rusher on him and then run stunts.

If he were a guard, it would be a different story because we could protect him while he learns his craft. But unfortunately he’s getting baptized by fire. As an athlete myself, I have a lot of respect for how he has gone out there each week and given it his best because he knows he’s lost some battles and yet he hasn’t quit on himself or the team.

One other observation is our running backs are only mediocre at chipping the defense ends and I think at times make the situation worse because they create uncertainty, vs certainty, which is also exploited by the defense. And Weston has to try and clean things up.

I’m glad we’re sticking with Weston and have a lot of respect for how he goes out there against challenging circumstances and battles each week.

The whole line is getting better. Saw a sweet pull and crack block by Thompson on a nice running play. A couple of weeks ago that would have been a traffic jam.

That was by far the best guy he will have to block this year. It was like once he lost that first rep, he started to settle in. I agree, I like how he competed. He lost reps for sure, but at times he held his own. Which is what you like to see.

As a unit, if they are incrementally better this week than last, I think we can officially say that we're on the road to getting better lol. ***knock on wood***

Dylan Stewart was the best player on the field. Did whatever he wanted against whoever on the oline. Agree weston is playing better. I thought oline engaged much better with force on sat.... and against a good front. Echols looked pretty good as well.

Weston is a rs fr... we as fans are too quick to give up on kids. Let that big f'r develop and get better.

Great point regarding RB's being worthless as blockers.

Am I the only one thinking the OLine made some holes Saturday but our RB’s either didn’t hit them or weren’t quick enough to hit them?

He’s fricking gigantic. Him and Adams make other D1 scholarship linemen look small.

I think you can add sharp to that list, and a blocking TE is crucial for our running game. There was one play down by the goal line, where the DE just pancaked him flat on this back into the backfield, even after he was in motion and had momentum. That was hard to watch. Do we not have a better blocking TE, who maybe isn't as good a receiver, but Sharp didn't catch a pass yesterday I believe, This Oline needs as much help as it can get with numbers if they can't block one on one, which has become quite obvious.
Bring TE in motion and Crack down on the DE and run outside the end for a change. Again, it doesn't appear to be in our playbook to run outside, which is really really disappointing. No other top team in college football only runs inside like LSU. LSU's makeup is speed, so use it.

Was coming to give Echols some props too. Think LSU is finally finding the right 5 and once they settle on 5, the line will start to gel together.

Holy crap, I just said that 7 weeks into the season. I know injuries has shaken things up, but the line should have been mostly settled week 1.

Davis graded out as a 30 in pass blocking vs SC and was again in the bottom 5 of team grades in each game this season for his overall PFF grade. The only OL player that was worse in pass blocking was Echols at 25. 30 and below is barely getting a hand on the defender.

Durham had his best pass blocking grade with an 80 which is outstanding. I didn't see Johnson's grade, but he does struggle in pass pro.

Davis has shown no sign of improvement based on his grading. Moscona had a suggestion I like which is to push Thompson out to RT (he played an entire season as starter at RT at Northwestern and did well), put Curne at RG and sit Davis and let him learn. Curne is more physical and should get a bigger push than Thompson at guard and Thompson is more technically sound than Davis for the RT spot.

Barring a catastrophe, it looks like Lafleur will be redshirted. Look forward to next season when he should return.

Sharp’s blocking efforts have been disappointing overall.

Sharp needs to sit and Donovan Green needs more snaps. He's your best blocking TE.

I don’t think he’s as bad as people say. I’ve watched him on several plays—he’s got quick feet and is very athletic. Once he gets stronger, I think he’ll be a real force

100%. Tre Green needs any te route that he doent flex as a wr, and transfer green needs to be your blocking te. Green can also catch, just a notch below bauer there, and 2 notches below tredez obviously. I think kaleb jackson needs to be a fb/ hback too. Goal line play sharp was pancaked, let jackson be that. And same formation you can hand it to jackson on need 1-2 yd plays too

When I watched him I saw him immediately stand up and start retreating which caused him to get pushed back towards Nuss immediately. I’m really not sure what Brad Davis is teaching them but it’s wrong.

Missed really big holes on at least 4 plays I can remember. I was shouting at the TV. I don't know if it's a vision thing or a coaching thing, but they finally seemed to have some holes and didn't hit them.

This has been my biggest frustration with Durham (besides the fact that he falls down if a stiff breeze hits him). Dude is absolutely abysmal at blocking.
