Progress....Nuss is healthy again.

He actually ran the ball a couple of times when it was dictated and picked up a nice first down. The defense was still elite except for one play. The coaches put in some short down run packages under center. And we actually ran the ball successfully with a bit of consistency. Yea, we’re not where we should be, but yesterday was a step in the right direction.

Agreed. There was some consistency for a change.

The problem continues to be turnovers and not finishing drives consistently. With a season and a half of data, Nuss and Sloan are what they are. You can't win anything of note with the constant severe lapses in judgement Nuss has. That's not going to change.

The QB has regressed in his decision making. His ints are really bad decisions. We have been told all offseason that was a focal point for his progression in the offseason. I am not convinced this team will achieve any goals with Nuss at QB. Sucks bc I like the kid. He just doesn’t have the mental game to win at a high level.

It looked better, but on several runs I still saw our lineman standing over the pile full of black jerseys who made the tackle.
That’s a bad sign when you see that pattern.

Yeah I thought overall it was an imperfect step in the right direction for the offense.
TGreen is a top 15 NFL draft pick, it was awesome seeing him deployed as such. It was also nice seeing Parker and Curne getting more work.
If this offense played a slightly cleaner game we win 34-10.

Nuss will cost the team some wins with these RZ blunders and bad Interceptions. He should have the VR goggles strapped to his head 24/7 and a sports psych in his ear talking about making good decisions etc
He lucky he didn’t lose the ball on his fumble on the 1. He’s gone from 1st round to maybe Day 2 at this rate.

He looked healthy in person until they qb snuck him. 10mm/ yr to keep qb sneaking it with a guy whos trying to heal an ab strain. Its comical. Thought nuss looked really good. He had 2 bad throws, parker one sailed on him since his technique etc has gotten worse to avoid the stomach turn, and green int was forcing it about to get hit. If 3 drops are caught he goes 23/33 for 350, 2 tds, 2 ints ... not all worldly, but pretty good when your team fan for 160+ as well.

The turnovers were unacceptable, but there were definitely positives.
-Nuss was more decisive and had more velocity on throws. If Hilton catches the deep ball maybe he doesn't throw the pic 2 plays later. He also threw a corner route to Nic Anderson that he should have at least had a better play on. Anderson got turned around and misplayed the ball.
-Nuss also made some really nice runs. He also escaped a lot of pressure in the pocket and did not take a sack despite getting hit multiple times.
-The OL created some run lanes and occasionally got push. Probably more than they did the entire season against a solid defense.
-RBs were more decisive in hitting holes. Durham put his foot in the ground and went N-S. Unfortunately he doesn't have the same speed he had last season before the injury. He and Johnson would have housed their big runs if they had that extra gear.
Mistakes cost points otherwise this was a blow out win, but the O looks to have gone from a complete disaster to something that can be built upon.

Dont be so sure. I was at the game and on one early throw Nuss bent over and almost went to his knees like he got hit in the nuts. Late in the game he went down and had to helped to the sideline.

That’s the problem. There is always an “if”
I don’t think this offense is capable of a clean game.

6th game of the season Against the worst defense in the league playing short handed. Ridiculous this is even a conversation after what was spent on this roster in the offseason. But I guess this is the reality of where this program still is in year 4 of BK. Maybe, hopefully, mid tier SEC team. T

Wrong. This is Nuss's first healthy game of the season. We have one game of data where Sloan could call a full game and Nuss could execute the full playbook.

Maybe maybe not. I get that.
But if this offense keeps making similar steps in the right direction and keeps improving, there’s plenty to be really optimistic about.
We don’t need an incredible offense with what we have on the other side of the ball, just a good offense.
This team can absolutely become a good offense down the stretch. It’s not unrealistic.

Did you have amnesia last year when we also had terrible red zone/scoring offense and couldn't run the ball?

Nuss played better but it was below the standard of getting this team to a 10-2 record... we left 10-14 points on the field because of his poor decisions.
You're under center after a big run. Grow some balls, snap the ball under center, and QB sneak it for a yard. He checked out of the play into run out of shotgun and Johnson fumbled.
The decision to throw on the rpo was awful. Just protect the ball by running it, take the FG, and make it a 10 pt game to start the 4th quarter.

SC is the worst offense in the league not defense. They are a mid level defense.

Not trying to be a huge homer or anything, but I think they can build on this. Nuss threw some passes that looked like they were from last year. Although he had two interceptions, I thought we saw progress.

Through 5 games they were 11th in the league. Guess we could dive in to different parts of the defense but still Not a good defense. And lost their best DB during the game
