Anyone else just forget how to hit an iron?

I've been smashing the driver and woods better than ever. Picked up a bunch of distance.
My iron swing feels good and compact but I can't hit an irons shot to save my life. Either chunky, thin, or low pull/hook.
But then I get to the wedge end of the bag and they're my strongest clubs in the bag.
Golf be fickle.

Have no clue on your skill level but I’d video yourself to see if you are swaying off the ball and not getting your weight back in your lead leg with the irons. You wouldn’t notice it with wedges because you aren’t taking as big of cut at it.

Daily it seems. Hit irons great at Grand National, like garbage at Cambrian Ridge the next day, missed the green completely 3 times from around 130 which is a good yardage for me normally.

Forget?
Not sure I've ever known how!

Hybrids in your future…don’t have to hit down on them as much. . Do it

I’ve simplified the game for me.
When I don’t get a good strike I know I’m either standing to close or to far from the ball, the ball is too far forward or too far back in my stance, my grip is either too weak or too strong, I have the face open or closed, I’m aligned left or right or my target, I’m swinging too quickly or too slowly.
If I strike it good. I don’t have any thoughts or feeling.

Got back into golf this May after like 20 years. Took some lessons and spent the summer getting better. Played a few nine hole rounds and one 18 hole round. Felt great for how long I've been at it. Ball striking was the only part of my game that was adequate from spending several months on the range, but I was building on that.
Dad was in town last weekend and took video of me swinging for some reason and sent it to me. I saw things I didn't know I was doing and now I'm so in my head. I played yesterday and didn't hit a single shot in the same zip code that I was aiming. At least before I could get up to the green and then fall apart. I don't know if I can afford to play this game losing balls like that
. I expect a bad day with the driver, but even the irons were completely gone.

I am the opposite. Got new irons and hitting irons better than I ever have, but all of a sudden, I can't hit my driver to save my life. Rolling my wrist at impact and can't stop it. Just hitting low duck hooks and no matter what I try I can fix it. It's so frustrating. Have just been hitting 4 hybrid off the tee box for now.

5 over on 4,5,6 on the judge. 5 under from 7-16.
Went from no clue to this is easy and no idea at all why.

Well, I did what any reasonable individual who sucks at golf does and got new irons.
Should definitely fix the problem.

About every 10 rounds or so I forget how to hit my irons.

They do. I bought one of Amazon for the novelty, but I keep it in the bag for when I need a high shot off a crappy lie. Plus, it's very forgiving on mis-hits.

I’m about to turn 60 and am thinking about going all hybrid. Never been very good with irons. Have a 22 degree hybrid and hit it well. Very forgiving
