LaNorris Sellers on the Road

It's honestly not easy to find an angle that shows this guy in a bad light. He's really fricking good and has the ability to take over a game. A high end RB level athlete who can make all the throws you'd need a QB to make. There's a reason people consider him to be a legit contender to be the #1 overall pick when you see his physical abilities.
With all that being said, I did notice one trend that plays to LSU's favor on Saturday. Below are LaNorris's rushing stats at home and on the road (only P4 opponents):
Home: 62 yards per game, 5.2 yards per carry, sacked 2 times per game
Away: 29 yards per game, 2.3 yards per carry, sacked 3.5 times per game
It seems, and I noticed this when watching them against Missouri this year when he was sacked 5 times, that their protection breaks down a good bit on the road, and his decision making gets a tick slower. I thought he played well against Mizzou, but there were a few key plays where he needed to be quick with the football and ended up sitting on it or trying to take off.

LSU historically performs well against these types of quarterbacks. Shut down Lamar Jackson and Johnny Football. We have athletes all over the field that schools similar to South Carolina have a tough time matching even though they are in the SEC like us

The Mizzou game was an odd game because he was not being asked to run the ball early in the game. That will be the key to this game. Stopping the running plays. Until he got hurt last year he was pretty darn effective in the run game with 2 rushing scores. Can't have any of that this go around.

Couldn’t contain Chambliss last game especially on 3rd down

Well I agree with the history BUT I wouldn’t refer to trends 3 head coaches and like 6 coordinators ago to make any point lol. What we did to Johnny 13 years ago is irrelevant to the current day.
In recent history we have struggled mightily to stop the QB run.

Marcel Reed and Trinidad Chambliss say hi.

We won't beat SC unless the offense, and esp the running game show out Saturday night. The days of five INTs and the team accounting for 13 points on defense are likely over.

2024 South Carolina
LaNorris Sellers
88 yards, 10 carries, 8.8 per carry
2024 Texas A&M
Marcel Reed
62 yards, 9 carries, 6.9 yards per carry
2024 Alabama
Jalen Milroe
185 yards, 12 carries, 15.4 yards per carry
2023 Alabama

Man, that's a dim sum for the LSU defense. And with the sole exception of Milroe 2023, it's all on Baker.

LaBlake needs have LaHarold spying LaNorris the entire game. That should be HP's entire responsibility. That's it. Spy his arse like flys on shite. Don't let him run......

You forgot the main guy Jalen Milroe. He butt fricked us didn’t even have to pretend to want to pass the ball. For those of you saying we usually do well against these types, that was a long fricking time ago.

LSU loses last year if Sellers doesn’t get hurt. Also Jalen Milroe just scored again

You are going back 10+ years to prove your point and completely ignoring guys like Jalen Milroe and Sellers last year.

What are we to conclude? Is there some significant change in his abilities on the road? Do those numbers represent all the games he has played?

He’s a completely different style of player. It’s the quick, twitchy guys who can evade and get to max speed quickly that gave us the most issues last year.
USC’s OL is also beat to shite and has been struggling. That puts Sellers in the position to have to be Superman at all times. Chambliss has a lot more around him.

And you mercifully left out which we are very grateful: there are 10 rushing TDs that goes along with those running QB stats.
We have to add containing pressure and most of all The OFFENSE has to compliment us in this game. I don’t care how many athletes and how much better we are on D- nobody can stop a team that runs 100 plays- the get got % is still low. Can’t stop any team with your tongue dragging the turf.

Last year, Sellers had one big play on a busted assignment. He was shut down otherwise.

We actually handled Dart, Pavia and Green very well last year. Sellers had a big play on us, but we also forced turnovers, sacked him and knocked him out of the game. It was Reed and Milroe that really hurt us.
Klubnik and Lagway aren’t run first guys, but both can make you pay if you lose contain on them, and we didn’t give either much of anything this season.
