Is that a reliable engine historically? Have a chance to buy a 2012 Tundra with only 23k miles on it for 18K. Opinions appreciated.

250k on mine. Still strong; hoping for another 250k.

I don’t think that they passed too many gas stations, but if properly maintained should be good for 300k+ miles.

It’s what the big 3 (and Toyota should be allowed to bring back)should strive to mass produce in a sensible interior full-size 4x4 for today’s market.

This is a joke, right?

The 5.7 is one of best engines toyota ever made, and that's saying something. Million mile engine.

My son has my old 2012 Sequoia. It has around 225k miles on it and still going strong.

One of the very best engines ever made.

I’ve had to replace an alternator and radiator on it along with brakes and tires but that’s it.

My '12 4.6 Tundra is at 300k now. If you don't buy it I might.

Got a 09’ with 247k.

Water pump, an alternator and a few batteries are what’s been changed other than the regular maintenance stuff. Did the plugs and wires at I think 175k.

Yes. Cousin had a 2016 limited with the 5.7 and had ~410k miles on it before someone crashed into him and totaled it. Never had any mechanical issues

If it wasn't the 5.7 those low of miles would concern me. Likely was an old man who drive it 2miles down the road for a hot plate on weekdays. The engine oil carried around a lot of excess moisture from never getting hot enough to boil off water.

There were some production issues with some of the engines during that time resulting in premature cam oil leaks. It’s a costly repair if this engine is affected.

Otherwise, the engine is bulletproof and it’s a steal at that price.
