No. 11 LSU (4-1, 1-1 in SEC) hosts South Carolina (3-2, 1-2) this Saturday in Tiger Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6:45pm CT, and the game will air on the SEC Network.
This marks the 24th meeting between the two schools. LSU leads the overall series 20-2-1. LSU has won the last eight meetings, including last year's 36-33 win in Columbia, SC. Click here for series history.
Both teams are coming off bye weeks.
LSU is favored by 9.5 points. The over/under is 43.5 points.
South Carolina’s 2025 Results (3-2):
Aug 31 - Virginia Tech - W 24-11
Sep 6 - South Carolina St. - W 38-10
Sep 13 - Vanderbilt - L 31-7
Sep 20 - @ Missouri - L 29-20
Sep 27 - Kentucky - W 35-13
Gamecock Notes:
- Vanderbilt knocked quarterback LaNorris Sellers out of the game in the second quarter with a helmet-to-helmet hit that drew a targeting penalty. The Commodores led 14-7 at the time.
- South Carolina gave Missouri (5-0) its toughest test to date. However, the Tigers sacked LaNorris Sellers five times and limited the Gamecocks to -9 rushing yards. Sellers threw for 302 yards and two touchdowns without an interception.
- South Carolina hurts itself with penalties (8.4 per game) and protection issues, giving up about 3 sacks a game.
BK Monday Press Conference Tidbits:
- Injury Updates: Nuss, Weston Davis and Caden Durham are good to go...Paul Mubenga is questionable and Aaron Anderson is probable.
- Kelly noted that against Ole Miss, LSU was 1 of 7 on passes down the field.
- Kelly talked about rotating WR's less to help improve flow of the offense.
- Nuss worked more with VR to help simulate situations...He didn't throw last week to help with healing, but was heavily involved in practice. He feels good and is ready to go.
- On stopping Sellers running the ball: need more discipline in pass rush lanes and solid scheme up front...
- Sounds like Weston Davis will return as starter at right tackle.
- On Michael Van Buren: he is starting to command the offense like a starter would...looked good at practice...live arm, elusiveness, gritty...

Hopefully someone asks him if anyone else besides Sloan will call plays

They should've beaten us last year. Sellers was running right through us until he got hurt.
We have to score some points. Sure hope Nuss is healing.

I think this will be a tough game for us...on paper, we have slightly better stats, but teams are very similar, and LaNorris is still good.

"Coach, could you please give an update on Nuss' health status?

Their offense is light years better than ours. Don’t let the statistical rankings fool you. They can score on anybody. Sellers is better than Chamblis. USCe WRs are worse than Ole Miss but are incredibly fast. This is a grudge match, USCe is coming to win.

Not expecting anything of substance to come out of this press conference. Nothing will change until Chicken gets media credentials and we can ask the hard-hitting questions

He made it pretty clear that they are sticking with Weston Davis at RT

I’m sort of disappointed in hearing “we have to just execute better” over and over without any real changes. It’s clear the offense is not performing well. Why not change things up? I’m willing to give the offense an opportunity Saturday to show some different things to see if it’s just coach speak, but I was hoping to hear some things might change considering how bad the offense has been.

Davis has to be the worst RT in the SEC. He consistently grades near the bottom on team PFF grades.

you have to think that Kelly keeps things close to the vest and if they are going to change anything up, he certainly won't advertise it at a press conference...

Of course
BK is a moron

That’s why I’m willing to give the team this weekend to show some different things, but maybe hearing “we’ve identified some things we were inefficient in doing, and we feel confident in our ability to adjust” would’ve been refreshing. I’ll still reserve some hope to see som changes Saturday

He’ll just find a way to bullshite around the questions. Doucet asked him straight up why they only ran the ball twice in the first half with a running back. His response was that “it’s circumstantial” and that Sloan “does a really good job” and they “clearly understand the need for balance”

Kinda sounds like the whole lack of VR thing wasn’t made up…

I mean, the Ole Miss tape is glaring. The guys were running wide open majority of the game nuss was missing them or underthrowing the ball. Thats on execution
