I crap on the city a lot. If someone told me they got shot on Bourbon and Canal at 2:00am on a Friday night, I'd say: "well, no shite Sherlock. What did you expect?"

But if someone asked me: "You think I'd be fine in the middle of the day on Canal and Jeff Davis, in a crowded line, picking my kid up from school?"

I probably would have said: "I mean, I think you'll be OK doing that."

Just shocked by the Chef Morgan killing.

Out of control.

A lady in Lakeview got her arm ripped basically in a carjacking in late 2023 so it just seems like more of the same. The people seem conditioned to it.

Well... when a society thinks this way...

Eventually this happens...

It’s never as bad as people say and never as good as others say. Giuliani proved you can change it but the result is a lot of black people in jail because they commit most of the crimes. That’s something that isn’t popular with black voters.

4Chubbies says a murder here and a murder there is acceptable as long as no tanks rolling through the quarter.

There are alot of good innocent people there that dont want to leave but what are they going to do. Many people do leave but others dont.

Can you explain your childish, inane hatred of a city.

To be fair, Little Sidney Torres has the Quarter cleaner than it’s ever been and actually smelling pretty nice.

It’s one of the worst cities I’ve ever been too, but very anecdotal

Worked with a guy that got sent over there to work on the F15s a couple of years ago. He was car jacked, shot and killed at like 8pm. He wasn't in a bad neighborhood or anything. Car jacking have gotten so bad I don't even go over there anymore and wont anytime in the future.

It’s the “childish” leadership that’s hated

I am in the actual city about once a month. I don’t remember the last time I went home with any desire to come back.

ETA. I’ll pile on a little. I’ve lived in 3 states and worked in a half dozen metro areas in 4 states. I’ve been eye witness to a Violent crime 3 times in my life. All three were in New Orleans.

Sorry. White flight handed over the city to the lawless. The people no one wants to live around are in complete control.

There's some sgit cities in America, but New Orleans is the biggest shithole around. There is NOTHING positive. Roads, infrastructure, water, levees, pumps, leadership, culture wreaking around any semi positive events.
Business climate sucks, taxes high w NO results.

Its the shite coming out of the shithole

an index of parish revenue by population st Tammany is 1.46 and Orleans is 3.45.

Where on earth is all the money going?
How can St Tammany look like it does and New Orleans, with all the heritage.....look like it does?

Its like business owners sitting on a gold mine who would rather steal 20 cents now than mine the gold and reap 1.20 for the rest of their lives.

And the people voting them in would rather have a bbq chicken dinner, a fete, and a tshirt.....than their child actually getting an 8th grade education by the time they "graduate" from high school.

Just to clarify :

That was on Bienville St, Mid City about the 4300 block. The murder was on Canal Street in the 3400 block. Mid City.
Same area About a mile apart.

And this happened in broad daylight on Iberville a couple blocks off Carrollton, with plenty of witnesses.
