Principles.... Yet still loved the movie?

Eastbound and down doesnt count. It has to be a character that actually takes themselves seriously

First one off the board, in taking Slippin Jimmy, Better Call Saul.

Like the thing, but don’t like the character?

Miller in The Expanse is a classic anti-hero. He does a lot of dirtbag stuff but at the end of the day you’re gonna want him on your side.

The Last Jedi. Not because I hate Luke, but because Rian did.

Ocean’s 11 are no-good dirty thieves. But it’s a really fun movie.

If we're adding TV shows, I'll go with the penguin. Oz is a massive POS

I think Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind works in part because the pair seem so ill-suited to each other. We should not want them to work out. Depending on the part of the movie, you're probably actively rooting against them.

Charles Foster Kane might fit this.

The Wolf of Wall Street? Does that fall into the comedy thing?

The dude from the big lebowski.. an able bodied man, in the parlance of our time, who doesnt work or contribute anything to society..just gets drunk and high all day and goes bowling at the tax payers expense…

All that to say.. i fricking love the movie and the dude.. but he truly is a deadbeat lol

That’s a good one. Speaking of the Coen brothers, I just watched Miller’s Crossing. Not sure I fully understood Tom Reagan‘s motivations or morals. But damned if I didn’t love the character.

That wasn't Luke. It was Jake. Jake Skywalker.

Even Mark Hamill hated that character.

Everything about Daniel Larusso in Karate Kid is beyond annoying and loathsome.

You made me think of this article by Bill Simmons from 2002 - The Holy Trinity of the Karate Kid

Some quotes:

"Hey, this kid's 5-foot-7, he weighs 100 pounds, he can't defend himself, he has no money and no car, we run in different social circles, his mom has to drive him on dates, and everyone hates him. ... I think I'm in love!"

"it doesn't matter if he's in America or Japan, folks, there's just something about Daniel-San that rubs people the wrong way"

"Was there a bigger loser in the history of Hollywood lead characters than Daniel-San? And does this explain why so many people went out of their way to antagonize him? Do you realize that, in the span of 12 months, this kid was terrorized by three different groups of people in two different countries. What were the odds? Couldn't this kid catch a break? Was he really that bad?"

I remember that. I've done my own versions as well on here.

Overanalyze thread.
