Why be mad at China for ‘taking’ our manufacturing when US companies started this?

I was involved in the front edge of this movement years ago. American companies (and their shareholders) were salivating over all that cheap labor and many couldn’t move jobs there fast enough. I personally watched American jobs get wiped out. Not too much longer afterwards I left that sector altogether.

Why get mad at China? Americans created this in order to keep costs down for an American consumer who does not want to pay the prices to support American labor.

The blame China seems no different than a politician causing a problem and after it all blows up pointing fingers at everyone else and asking ‘How could this happen?’

You could.

FWIW, all of this played into my decision to leave the sector and never return.

China is going to do what’s in their own best interest. Corporations will do whats in theirs. No one gives a shite what’s in the best interest of every day Americans.

Agreed. We did this to ourselves. Greed. I feel bad for the Chinese workers. Conditions and pay is barely above slavery.

Uhhh wrong…. We the People did not create this issue. Our politicians did.

George Bush took care of his CEO buddies and did NAFTA, which was shortly follow by GAT.

Our politicians believed we owed it to the world to spread the American Middle class to foreign countries.

The whole point in Trump’s tariff’s are to bring those jobs back to the US.

That condescending a-hole Biden said learn to code as the manufacturing jobs left…. Well frick you, because some people just want to sit at the end of an assembly line to make sure the horn works. And that’s ok! We need to have jobs all up and down the spectrum to support the lives they’d like to live.

Part of that was official policy to create incentives for China to join the international economic community.

Times have changed and we have too many empty factories, store fronts and industrial parks.

We won WWII based on our industrial strength. A lot of it is simply not here anymore.

Our shitty govt did it. They had a goal and accomplished it. Part of their plan. Regulate, fine, raise cost of doing business, raise ease of entry. Dims are responsible for this.

Bc the only way they take them is by paying the workers 2k per year, they get 90% discount on labor, offer 30% discount on cost, and keep the profit. Oh and they also save on materials making shittier quality.

Not just the CCP but they were also bought by US corporations who wanted better profit margins using cheap labor.

I was thinking if the USA went full Commie.. Some of these Blue hairs that wanted would soon be put to work.. Doning a job that they don't like, by the Gubment... They sure would miss that freedom.

Trading with China has raised our standard of living. There was nothing broken about it. A trade deficit doesn’t mean countries are “ripping us off” as Trump proclaims. His hyper manic tariff policy base on lies is terrible for US companies. They’re not reciprocal tariffs. Never were and were never gonna be reciprocal tariffs. He fed y’all a bunch of bullshite. It’s a pattern with him to create or give the illusion of chaos, then try to convince people that he’s the only one smart enough to save us. Just look how he got his start in politics. Falsely accusing a sitting president of not being born here. When he reluctantly admitted he was wrong he framed it as if he did the country a favor by finding out when he was the only one worried about it to begin with.

Obama birth certificate (and religion issue) BS predated Trump by 4 years... your post is invalidated.

You are 100% correct, I was at ground zero of sourcing manufacturing to MANY factories in China. The American manufactures couldn't ship their manufacturing to China fast enough for the cheap labor and substantial reduction in product costs. The only down sides at the time were Chinese companies weren't remotely afraid to give your designs to other companies, use lower quality raw materials (your job was to catch them), garbage final product in most cases and a strike at a port could be very costly

I don't give a shite about Chinese manufacturing.

What I have a big problem with, is that China steals our intellectual property, and that a percentage of people in our own government sell them our R&D secrets.
