Drafting Shough was a mistake….
especially wasting a 2nd Round pick (# 40 overall).

Moore didn’t like what he saw from small sample size of Rattler in 2024 season …
so he gambled on Shough.

He really wanted Jaxson Dart (Ole Miss) but Giants beat him to the punch by trading back into the 1st rd before Saints could.

Shough played 6 years in college …
6 years …..and did nothing against horrible competition.

Suddenly … he will become a great player in the NFL ???

I wish they would put him on the field.

I think it’s probable that Shough is not a special player or even a decent starter. But we’re never going to know until he starts some games regularly. He will certainly have a favorable schedule as far as nfl schedules go.

With one or two more losses I think it’s fully justified to play for next year in terms of shifting the entire focus of the organization to developing anybody who could be on this roster in 2-3 seasons.

Josh Allen was trash at Wyoming.

Playing shough at some point is to allow us to see what redeeming qualities he may have. If he has nons then we know we need to find a veteran as we rebuild

Seaux, hopefully looks like a Mac Jones.

Mac Jones looks like Joe Montana. Just needs a Jerry Rice.

Who knows what that Rookie Seaux will look like.

The message is clear though, if Ratt doesnt Win vs the Giants, We will see Seaux.

Are these the thoughts that keep you up at night? Do you think the people on this board make these decisions? Or is it possible that while he was not the desired pick at #40, the fans of the team are hopeful that the gamble will pay off for the sake of the team's future; while also realizing that the team needs to see him in action to determine if Shough can be the future starter, a wasted 2nd rounder for a 3 year backup, or a complete waste.

Partially true. Loomis wanted Dart, and tried to trade back into the 1st to get him, but did not agree with the asking price. NYG paid with #34, 99, and a 2026 3rd rounder. For the Saints to match that, they would have needed to trade #40, 71, 93, and possibly a late future. Of course, had they done that the board would have been overran with posters talking about how he overpaid for a (insert made-up round) at best that no one else wanted in the 1st; and we need to save all of our picks to rebuild the roster, not go all in for 1 borderline starter....

He took the University of freaking Wyoming to back to back bowls, and his college performance contributed to him being a Top 10 pick.

I have no idea how Shough will be in the NFL, but saying Allen was trash in college isn’t at all accurate.

Yes, over a 2 year span playing 25 games amounting to:
56.1 completion %
5015 yards (200.6 YPG)
7.8 YPA
44 TDs
21 INTs

727 yards rushing
12 TDs
(not including fumbles)

That was a stretch, even then. he was a major project. He played like arse vs Oregon in arguably one of the bigger games so yes, he was arse.

Rattler's stats while at SC were superior and we all know he was arse. Same could be said about Shough's last year at Louisville.

If you're not going to play a guy you drafted in the 2nd round when you're winless and in the middle of a rebuild, then why even draft him in the first place? I didn't want the saints to draft Shough, or any qb in last year's draft for that matter, but it happened and we have to see if he's worth anything.

Allen left after the 2017 season and Wyoming went to bowls in 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2023. Craig Bohl is a good coach.

Allen got drafted so high largely due to his measurables and combine workout. He was a boom or bust prospect that boomed

Seems like the Saints are always getting cock blocked at the last minute by other teams when it comes to drafting QBs they want.

Josh Allen was 39-21 through 60 NFL games through age 25. MVP runner up at 24

Stupid comp. What would Josh Allen have done in the NCAA at age 25 fairly certain not the 5th best QB in the ACC

After reading your rant it’s obvious you did not spend 6 years in college.
The simple fact is we do not know what he will become until he is given his opportunity. The Rattler era is coming to a rapid end then Shough will get his chance, I hope the guy succeeds.

OP wants to hurry up and play him now so he can hurry up and proclaim the failure of the pick. The End. In no way is he wanting a Saints player to be successful.

Josh Allen did very well in college and had great tools…. the only question for him… would the skills translate at a higher level.

I was hoping Saints would orchestrate a trade to somehow select him.

Shough… Did NOT do well at the college level.
