Alright so I started a rewatch of Stanger Things in prep for the final season. I had only watched through S3 so it's been quite a while and I have forgotten most.

If anyone wants to join in and discuss episodes feel free to do so. If it will be your first watch we will keep any future spoilers ahead of the designated watch episodes out.

November 25th is the S5 release date. To complete seasons 1-4 in time we'd have to watch 4-5 episodes a week.

I doubt I can do that because I'm busy moving, but I'm going to try. I will update the OP with the scheduled viewing episodes for the given week and those episodes and all the prior episodes are free to discuss, no future spoilers ahead of the OP dates.

I'm going to start tonight and this week will be from the Pilot episode to S! EP4.

Feel free to join and discuss If you haven't done a M/TVB re-watch/first watch, it can be pretty fun.

Never seen it but it is on my watchlist. I will probably start it in November. I can easily binge it before the final season.

Stranger Things Re-Watch

Did this a few months back and damn, those kids have aged from S1 to what you see with them in the promo stuff for the final season.

I think a few just filed for Social Security benefits tbh

Correct. Over 3 years since the last season premiered. Six years since season 3 premiered. It's the reason I stopped watching. I liked the show, but when they said the wait time in between seasons I was like yeaaaa I'm just going to wait until the final season and watch everything then.

I was wondering how the show was handling this. They started out the show as 12 year olds in 6th(?) grade. So presumably they'd be sophomores in high school in season 5. Millie Bobby Brown is 21 and now married and Gaten Matarazzo is 23 years old

I will prolly watch, but the mall season was really bad after the great seasons 1 and 2. I kinda went meh after season three.

it's a huge issue IMO how long they have taken between seasons. A rewatch seems like a requirement but I don't have it in me

I'm not there yet obviously so can't confirm but it seems a pretty universal opinion that the 4th season is one of the best.

I should have waited to rewatch because I just finished mine last month. The same thing happened for the Black Sails rewatch too. I’ll contribute when you finish a season because I can’t remember events of specific episodes.

Doesn't seem like this one is going to take off like the Black Sails one did.

I'm kind of blown away with how much I remembered of the first few episodes. Normally if I go 3-4 years between something with my dumb memory it's normally like a brand new show.

Have watched the series 2x through, 2nd time with fiancée who loved it about a year ago

I’ll start this week OP, nobody bringing up El’s random side quest with her “sibling” was the worst part of this show

Didn't realize anyone posted they were going to rewatch so I just kind of let the thread die. Sorry I didn't update.

Where are you on your rewatch?

I went faster since I wasn't doing a watch with TD and I was out fo work for a few days so knocked out more episodes than I normally would.

I'm currently up to season 3 episode 7, I think. one episode left in the season.

Just some overall discussion:

I didn't realize how much I hate Mike. Man I hate Mike I don't know if it's because I'm getting older and he just seems like a whiny brat that he gets on my nerves with this watch. Constantly yelling and screaming, even yelling and cussing at Hopper/a cop. I love all the kids, Mike just gets on my nerves.

And I know I'm getting older and grumpier (late 30's) because the kids cussing so much aggravates me this time Dustin will be in his house with his mom in the living room and be like "shite shite shite shite shite! Damnit guys picked up! Damnit piece of shite!" And his mom will be like "O Dustin don't get so upset". In 1984, if a 13 year old did that around their mom they'd be getting their mouth washed out with soap and a beating. I mean sometimes it's funny obviously, but like I say, get off my lawn I guess.

Freaking love Hopper. My first time watching I don't know who I would have said my favorite character is, but it's certainly Hopper this go around.

Excited to get to S4 since I haven't seen it. Glad my memory is so bad because season 3 has been like I'm watching it for the first time since it's been 25 years since the season aired. Glad I waited to watch. But not considering the S3 finale, I'd rank the seasons so far:

S1
S3
S2.

Probably a dumb question but I was wondering if they based the look of the Demogorgon and Mind Flayer off of the way they looked in the game. Like they were actually bringing those characters to life or just a parallel in how they act.

Took me a month and 10 days but I finished the series re-watch and S4 first watch in time for S5. This was considered a binge watch for me.

S4 lived up to the boards hype. Don't know if I liked it more than S1, need to let it marinate, but it's easily top 2. I'm leaning towards it being my favorite season just because it was more adult themed. Only knock I have is it went newer Marvel esq with badly timed jokes during serious parts too many times.

I still hate Mike. hatred grows just more and more as the show goes on. "You're the heart Mike, you're the heart of the group." No you're not, you suck. There's a reason they had you in a different state this season, so they could have you on the screen less, which was a good call. mike might be worse than the jock Jason.

Vecna was top tier villain. The entire story about how he was One and Eleven basically crated him when she sent him into the upside down. And then even deeper than that, finding out he was is the big bad will has been seeing since S1. Whew, good stuff. Great writing. Overall just so many good twists and turns.

Only thing I had spoiled for me was that Eddie died. I loved Eddie but I'm sorry his death was pointless. I get that he became a bit of a hero so you had that arc but the "I'm buying them some time" way of doing it was pointless. It didn't save anybody. He should have just went back into the real world with Dustin instead of sacrificing himself.

Ready for S5.
