Does anyone really believe the TdA drug smuggling excuse?

Or in reality is the motivation for regime change due to oil sales to BRICS countries in transactions that avoid the dollar?

Because if drugs were really the excuse why are we not bombing Mexico or Columbia?

BTW, Venezuela has larger oil reserves than Saudi Arabia.

Venezuela also turned into a failed state when the govt took over the oil fields and crashed the economy.

Covid happens and the already shite economy goes into total free fall. The corrupt leftist govt continued to do corrupt leftist govt shite. Hyperinflation kicks off.

Now the only survivable job for the vast majority (especially rural) is in the narco trade.

Let’s also ignore the fact that the leftist failed state has seen an exodus never before seen in Latin America. With around 10% of the country fleeing to the UNITED STATES in the last 5 years.

Every responsible nation should want regime change in cases, like Venezuela, in which the ruler has clearly stolen the election. Those nations should put whatever pressure they can to get that ruler out of power.

ditto. yes and yes.

The Tucker Carlson mantra of no war is a good thing... Please let's not equate it any other way than VZ has slimy voter practices they shared w/ democrats. Then they made a deal with the democrat devils with marxism/communism uniting them.

We don't need any more commies uniting in Havana.

I'm sure bombing Caracas into oblivion will stop the exodus.

I'm fine with stopping the drug trade coming out of Venezuela but it's hard to believe that the U.S. naval fleet off the Venezuelan coast sole mission is to stop drugs coming out of Venezuela. Seems like over kill.

I can hear it now: "While our Naval fleet was their protecting the U.S. form Venezuelan drug trade in the south Caribbean Sea we had the opportunity to send a few missiles into Caracas and take out Maduro."

Grok, what are the estimated oil reserves for Venezuela and Saudi Arabia?

quote:

Venezuela's estimated proven oil reserves are 303 billion barrels, making it the country with the world's largest reserves, primarily from heavy crude in the Orinoco Belt. However, much of this oil is costly and complex to extract due to its quality and depth, which has limited production and economic benefits.

quote:

Saudi Arabia's estimated proven oil reserves are 267 billion barrels, ranking second globally. These reserves consist mostly of lighter, more accessible conventional oil, allowing for lower extraction costs and higher production rates.

You hit the nail on the head.

This is what is happening. We don't care about drugs. We don't care about the two bit dictator Maduro and his communists regime. We are not in it to spread democracy.

We are there to cock block China. China is on a global mission to undermine the dollar and the western central fiat banking system.

Those attacks on "narco terrorists" seemed like a way to force a provocation to me.

I saw this yesterday.

quote:

Was Trump’s Meeting with the US Military Brass Today a Cover for Action?

If you watched today’s spectacle at the Quantico Marine Base, where Donald Trump and Secretary of War Hegseth delivered awful speeches to more than 800 General Officers, I imagine you are hearing Peggy Lee sing, Is that All There Is? Well, leave it to the brilliant Yves Smith to explain the reason for the meeting. She sent me the following message:

After Charlie Kirk, perhaps I have become too fond of complicated theories.

But it’s ludicrous to have called so many senior guys in for such a silly agenda. A stern memo and/or video sessions would have done.

So the big stoopid meeting, IMHO was to cover for a smaller gathering that had to be done in person. And where whoever was summoned would be a big tell as to what the focus was.

No, Yves… I think you nailed it. Besides the massive US naval force parked off the coast of Venezuela, we are now hearing that US tanker aircraft are flying to the Middle East via England. We saw the same phenomena in the days preceding the June 24 attack on Iran.

If the Trump administration is planning a coordinated attack on Venezuela and Iran, the commanders of USCENTCOM and USSOUTHCOM would be involved. While the plans for such attacks could have been discussed over a SVTCS (i.e., Secure Video Teleconferences), those sessions usually have dozens of straphangers watching. If you want to keep close hold on such planning, you do it in person. If the CENTCOM and SOUTHCOM commanders had been called to Washington alone, the odds are high that someone would have reported this. With the presence of the US naval force off the coast of Venezuela and the movement of US aircraft towards the Persian Gulf, this likely would have attracted unwanted attention… Well played Ms. Smith!

energy . Our refineries in the USA need low API gravity (heavy) crude to operate successfully.

All the above.

Venezuela is currently a cancer that needs to be resolved before conflict with near-peers becomes reality.

Venezuelan citizens who have been wiping their asses with paper currency for years would probably welcome a change.
