Redfish numbers

As someone who has fished redfish for 40 years, from Buras to Myrtle Grove, to Lafitte, to Cocodrie to Dularge, I have seen a marked decline in redfish numbers the last few years. A few years ago, I saw a similar decline in flounders (which seems to be rebounding). Not sure if others are seeing similar results? Also, any thoughts on possible causes?

Everything is on the decline except sharks, gators, invasives, and corrupt politicians.

i fished shell beach last week. the wind limited out trout opportunities but all three of us in the boat limited on reds. just my 2 cents

Pogey boats and global warming have had a substantial impact on the population. I’m at the point to where if I’m going to redfish, I might as well go to the Carolina’s.

Even PDJT told the green-scammers at the UN that it is a hoax.
Can you still finance beach front property for 30 years?
Are we still allowing billions in investments to build hotels, etc. on the coasts?
Listen to PDJT's speech to the UN regarding climate hoax.
We catch a lot of reds in SWLA.

I remember similar shortages before gill nets were outlawed. What can the sportsmen do to address the Pogey boat threat? Not seeing anything out of CCA or our politicians. Fish are a precious resource in Louisiana. If folks start going elsewhere, our economy will suffer.

I’ve caught more redfish this year than in the last few years that’s all I know. I think the new limits are helping. I fish out of Cocodrie and Cypremort point.

Global warming…..the leftists don’t even call it that anymore because the average temps aren’t rising anymore. Please educate yourself. We’ve had 11 ice ages and sea levels 500’ higher than current. And the climate alarmists are worried to death about a half degree change in average temps in 100 years. And they measure this shite in a city of concrete that radiates heat.
YGBSM…..redfish aren’t biting because climate change. That’s the best shite I’ve heard in a minute lmfao

He's not. He's either a troll who comes here to make fun of people who enjoy the outdoors. Or he's a psychopathic liar with a personality disorder.
Either way, just ignore him.

Delcambre Cypermort point area has been way better this year than the last 4-5
Even with the river at a very high level most of the year

Curious about CPt. Wayyyy back we used fish an area called the Trash Pile. Is that a thing anymore? 80s time frame. Sometimes we would wear them out there.

Probably?! Lol. The tens of thousands of dead spawning redfish that line the beaches everywhere gets a probabaly?! This is why they still get away with it. Because of dumbasses like this that just don’t care.

Bow fishing and Pogie boats probably aren’t helping the Redfish populations.

You guys are dumb. Everyone knows that redfish are suffereing from not only climate change but also the AIDS epidemic AND some of them are trans. EDUCATE YOURSELF FASCIST.

To be fair, I’ve heard those trans redfish are delicious

The same exact thing we did back in the 80s when GCCA had so much impact on gill netting and purse seiners. Sport fishermen need to organize and personally go to the legislature as a group. Only way you get a politician's attention is when you sit in front of them in numbers and put pressure on them. Don't know if CCA is the proper channel to do this, but that's how you overcome the financial influence of commercial interests.

They are, they just need more help. That's a double whammy of a lobby going up against both pogey boats and politicians who support them.
As to the fewer numbers, generally redfish go offshore to spawn. What's waiting for them out there? Pogey boats, a metric frick ton of more sharks, and dolphins!
