What would it take for you to take a blue collar job? I’m not talking about digging ditches (solely- but let’s say it’s part of the job description). I mean electrician, plumber, HVAC, etc. I don’t expect doctors, lawyers and engineers to seriously consider this (but some might).

The reason I ask, is because I’m tired of dealing with retards and drug addicts. I want to know what it would take to get more people of at least average intelligence to consider sweating it out with me vs sitting in an air conditioned office.

I will likely agree with most demands, as I believe that a good electrician should make $100k/yr on a 40hr work week. Insurance and 401k as well.

What do we need to do to make this dream a reality? The obvious answer is to cut the workforce and therefore increase demand by making the barrier to entry more difficult. I’ve been on many jobs (cost plus) where we would have 5 guys on a 2- man job, and 10 guys on a 5-man job, so forth and so on. So I know we can do more work with less people- and therefore charge and pay more per man hour. We just have to figure out what to do with the retards and drug addicts.

I made this in my mid 20s and there were people in my office making well north of a million, so in short, a hell of a lot more than that

People will say I’m posting this to brag but it’s the truth. Engineers, accountants, attorneys, healthcare, etc can all make six figures by 30 at the latest if they aren’t total retards, and that would be a higher blue collar earner. The white collar folks still have growth opportunities at that number along with generally better benefits, lifestyle, etc.

One day a couple of years ago an 18 wheeler missed a turn and ended up in a ditch near our office. I watched the heavy duty tow truck work for the better part of an afternoon to get it out. I found myself thinking I would gladly trade places with those guys right then and there.

Here's the hard truth:

Once you get a taste of a/c bliss in a hermetically sealed box with some bennies...

You're never going to swing a hammer.

I'm not saying it's right, it's the answer...just that it's what it is.

I traded my blue collar in because I was sick of that life (and lifestyle).

If you have vision, you can make it happen. And yes, I understand this isn’t the point of your thread but no white collar dude is doing back to blue collar.

Those of us working from home in shorts making 100k already are going to be hard to motivate.

Until AI and Indians take all our jobs away.

Most white collars don’t want that physical demand. Sitting in an office chair in AC vs outside sacrificing your knees and back is a poor trade off despite money.

So it had nothing to do with pay and benefits? I’m not disagreeing with you about “the lifestyle.” I’m trying to change it.

No doubt. Most. But many would gladly sweat it out for the same compensation if it meant not having to deal with the typical corporate bs. Shall we go through the terminology? Have you seen “Office Space?”

No they wouldn’t. A lot of the retards here claim this same as they claim kids (except theirs of course) shouldn’t go to college

I’d say it’s about 10 to 1. Ten retards and/or drug addicts to one intelligent, well rounded and capable man.

"Beliefs" about what a job should pay isn't worth a bucket of warm spit.

Jobs, on average, pay the market rate.

I see so many people claim xxxxx job "should" pay xxxxx dollars. Well clearly the job shouldn't pay that since it currently doesn't pay it.

I think nurses aids should pay wayyy more than the walmart wages they get. buuuuuut, the market says otherwise.
