Early Mock Drafts...

with the season about 33% over it is time to start thinking about who we are actually going to draft....
I personally have not seen any QB worth a top 5 pick in this draft so far. I think this is the year to take an elite Edge rusher unless we can dupe a team into giving us multiple picks to trade down a little.
Here are some mock drafts updated in the past few days:

Sports Illustrated
This one still has Nussmeier going first overall though,

1. New Orleans Saints
Rueben Bain Jr., EDGE, Miami
The New Orleans Saints aren't ready to draft a franchise quarterback, so with Spencer Rattler and Tyler Shough already on the roster, they'll pass on this QB class at No. 1 overall. Ideally, they would trade out of this pick, but we’re not doing trades this early in mock draft season. Rueben Bain Jr. is having arguably the best defensive season in college football and is a true game-wrecker that New Orleans can build around on defense.
CBS Sports

1. New Orleans Saints
LaNorris Sellers, QB, South Carolina
Sellers is still a bit of a projection but he has rare skills that are hard to find and will be hard to pass on. Sellers has a cannon for an arm and has improved his decision-making early in 2025 despite being under duress for much of the season. Sellers has exceptional athletic ability on his large frame and can turn negative situations into explosive plays. He's a high-level athlete who has progressed as a passer and someone whose best days are ahead.

1. New Orleans Saints
Fernando Mendoza, QB, Indiana
There was some significant offseason hype surrounding Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza, who was transferring from Cal in 2025. The hype wasn’t immediately met with on-field production, but in recent weeks, Mendoza has proven exactly why so many people were intrigued by his NFL projection after last season. He has looked like a future top pick, even though the 2026 NFL Draft class is anything but settled at quarterback. If the Saints get the top pick, you already know they’re going to be after the top QB on their board.

2. New Orleans Saints: Francis Mauigoa, OT, Miami
The Saints are really, really bad right now. They need a new quarterback, but unless they fix some of the other glaring holes first, whoever they take will get ruined by his surroundings.

Haven't watched Miami yet, but I will plan on it Saturday night. Love the idea of a game changer at de

I still think Sellers will go #1 personally. NFL teams love traits and he has them in spades. The surrounding talent at USCe has not been the best. People think he may go back to school, but I’d be surprised because I doubt he benefits much from it.
That said, I doubt we have that pick. I expect us to pick more in the 4-6 range.

Awesome! Let’s draft another QB from South Carolina!

I've only watched one Miami game this year (against Notre Dame) but I would not be mad at all with Bain. He is a force.
Had a lot of pressures. It seemed like they were showing a highlight of him beating the tackle every other play. He had an interception on a tip drill that he returned a good ways setting up an easy score. Then had the game ending sack later.
PFF loves him as well. He hasn't had a grade below a 90 in any game and has the highest overall grade of any player in the nation.

I will melt if we take Sellers #1 overall.

It's the Saints they will do something to lose the #1 pick, like winning the last game of the year. SELL THE TEAM!!!

Who are the teams you think will suck worse than us this year. I mean we are absolutely pathetic.

I watched videos of Baine. He would be my pick as of right now. Probably best talent and and position of need
I was about to mention this, every week he’s putting up over a 90 score and looks to have a non stop motor.

Nah, we will take him first overall and move him to right guard and you will defend the move to the death.

Trade down and get:
Caleb Downs S
OHIO STATE • JR • 6'0" / 205 LBS
He would ultimately replace Justin Reid and would play opposite of Jonas Sanker. Sanker looks like a gem from the Saints draft.
Caleb Downs seems like a safe pick in the top 5.

Not a sexy pick this early, but Downs is the safest player in the draft and a Day 1 starter. He's a high IQ player who is a leader and an alpha and will be a future multi-year Pro Bowler. He excels at erasing tight ends and is equally good as a run-stuffer who can play in the box and is an excellent tackler in space. Downs is a three-year starter at the highest levels of football under three elite systems at Ohio State.

I like Downs but that’s not a position you take that high. They don’t effect the game enough.
Has to be a money position. DE, corner Receiver, Qb….

Uhhh sorry we have so many needs and using what should be a premium pick to move down for a safety would be a horrible idea….so yeah Mickey might do that
Also frick this guy. Aren’t ready ? If there’s a qb worth taking there, you do it. You don’t pass and hope you suck enough the next season to spin again
