Not being your best self cause you miss opportunities?

I have been having this thought in the back of my mind.
Maybe - if I was doing the work and being, how much further would I have gotten.
Anyone else has this thought creep into the back of your mind, then circumset itself to the front?
Do you feel somewhat labotomiized floating through life?

Are you at a funeral for your Italian boss’s mother?

100% Yes.

I wonder often what would have happened if I were in better shape, had more time to put towards some work items, and was in a position to say "yes" more because I was just better at managing time.

No. I'm very happy with my life. It's fun to think about "what if", but the reality is that me being the version of myself that I am got me here. Any change of that could have produced a different result - possibly a negative one. Butterfly effect theory I guess.

It’s never too late to be the person you could have been.

Opportunities are everywhere. Having the proper mindset is the only way to identify them. Yes, I have missed many in my life but I’m taking advantage of many these days. Consumerism can create blinders.

No. Here's the deal I'm the best there is. Plain and simple. I wake up in the morning and I piss excellence

Why do you need somebody else to acknowledge feeling the way you do? Is that what motivates you?
Why not just acknowledge that you’re having an awakening? Then wake up as a better you who gives your best every chance you get?
If it makes sense that better inputs could mean better outcomes, then what are you waiting for?

Im my own worst enemy for sure.
Prideful and angry alot of the time.
Funny and jovial the rest.
And I can't pour sand back in the jar to make up for what thats cost me.
Just gotta be happy with what you have cause alot of people dont get that I guess (this is true but also cope)

Using the phrase "best self" isn't going to help you.

What you're saying is true, and you can turn things around if you truly want to. If not at least you know who's at fault.

I’ve always been a straight shooter and I don’t “kiss the ring” so I don’t know if that’s not me being my best self, but it’s who I am and I would rather miss 100 opportunities being true to myself and who I am rather than playing the part they want and gaining something. I understand that sometimes the end can justify the means but nut sure I can like myself being the guy at work that’s phony just to get ahead.

Quit worrying about being your best self or your worst self and just try to be your most medium self.

I don't think so...about the only thing I have never done is own my own business but never had a desire to do so. Have worked in both sectors and kind of go about my business.
Have been a boss and stay out of their lane unless they ask an opinion and even mindful then as my suggestion may not fit their style/approach

Give yourself credit for all the things you said “yes” to and that’s how you got to where you are baw.

No but if it makes you feel better you’ve probably reached your ceiling since you can’t spell lobotomize

Concern yourself only with what can be, unburned by what has been.

You change one thing…you change everything !
It is still hard to admit.
