Actor, comedian technologist Eline Van der Velden has revealed that her recently launched AI talent studio Xicoia is in talks with a number of talent agents interested in signing its first creation, AI actress Tilly Norward.

Van der Velden talked about the development on a panel at the Zurich Summit on Saturday, where she gave a presentation on her AI production studio Particle6 and then joined a discussion on AI developments in the entertainment industry alongside Verena Puhm, head of Luma AI’s new Studio Dream Lab LA.

Both Van der Velden and Puhm suggested that studios and other media and entertainment companies were quietly embracing AI under the radar, and to expect public announcements about high-profile projects using the technology in the coming months.

“We were in a lot of boardrooms around February time, and everyone was like, ‘No, this is nothing. It’s not going to happen’. Then, by May, people were like, ‘We need to do something with you guys.’ When we first launched Tilly, people were like, ‘What’s that?’, and now we’re going to be announcing which agency is going to be representing her in the next few months,” said Van der Velden.

The revelation of a possible agent signing for Tilly Norward comes just days after Van der Velden officially announced the creation of Particle6 offshoot Xicoia, an AI talent studio designed to create, manage and monetize a new generation of hyperreal digital stars.

If the talent agency signing comes to pass, Norwood will be one of the first AI generated actresses to get representation with a talent agency, traditionally working with real-life stars.

Hollywood talent is not happy

As AI talent studio Xicoia unveils its first digitally generated “actor” Tilly Norwood to Hollywood, the avatar’s real-life peers have some opinions.

Following Deadline’s report that several talent agencies are interested in signing Norwood, Melissa Barrera, Kiersey Clemons and more actors have suggested a boycott of such agencies after Xicoia founder Eline Van der Velden teased during a Zurich Summit panel that high-profile projects will be utilizing the technology in the near future.

“Hope all actors repped by the agent that does this, drop their a$$,” wrote Barrera on her Instagram Story with Deadline’s report. “How gross, read the room.”

Clemons echoed that sentiment in the comments section, writing, “Out the agents. I want names.”

“Not an actress actually,” commented Nicholas Alexander Chavez. “Nice try.”

If audiences accept this stuff it will happen. It's so much cheaper and faster than using actual actors and writers. Anything that cuts costs by like 90% is gonna be impossible to stop.

It's still going to be the same studios running it. Don't expect much change simply because it'll be AI actors instead of real ones

Just be fewer actors weighing in on social and political issues.

AI Actress
If it is great, I support it

Actors shouldn't be spared the realities everyone else faces.

If the actors can't beat out an AI, they deserve to lose the part

The film industry is dying and not even a slow death. I moved on to a new career and it’s nice knowing I have a job that isn’t going to end in a few months. And as studios complain about costs rising, they are trying to pay crew less and less. I made six figures in 2022 and almost half that in 2023 and 2024. Thankfully my skills translate to other things because I’m already only a few years from potentially hitting six figures again. frick studios and frick greedy actors and writers. They deserve every bad thing that happens to them.

In theory the lower barrier to entry should create more studios producing more content and increased competition would reduce prices.

In practice the deepest corporate pockets will immediately buy out all the quality upstarts and consolidate the market and you'll end up in the same exact corporate oligopoly we have today because our government doesn't enforce anti trust laws anymore.
