Will bands ever make a comeback?

Most of the music now is corporate engineered crap. Yeah, maybe I'm dating myself, but I was in high school in the 90s, and during that time, band music made a comeback after the late 80s pop growth.
I know there is still the odd band that comes out and sounds good, but they are getting fewer and more rare as time goes by. So, given that, in general terms, will we ever have good music again?

Boom..there some great music being made in all genres and with services like Spotify its so easily accessible. People bitching about the death of music probably haven't changed it off Sirius hits 1 in years

Tyler Childers has a kick arse band. But I guess it's more in the "Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers" tradition.
Greta Van Fleet broke out with "You're the one I want" during the pandemic.
You may be right. I'm too old for the likes of 21 pilots or whatever. And if I'm honest with myself--was the Foo Fighters ever really any good? Yeah they check the right boxes but did they ever offer anything as good as Nirvana? Or Guns and Roses?
Been a long time since U2 and R.E.M. Trailblazers that attacked the industry as a four piece band.

AI generated music will be the future. It can be turned out in seconds, there is no artist to deal with, they just have to figure out a way to monetize it without live performances.

Music is now dictated by streaming. No more record sales. With that said, if you have Spotify or Apple Music, you can listen to anything you want. Right now, if you wanted, you could go find a small grunge band making music out of their parent’s basement in the year 2025. You just really have to search and sift. It’s the best thing in the world IMO.

quote:Absolutely. During the 1980s as a kid i didn't have the money to risk on a bunch of bands I was curious about but hadn't heard much from to that point. With Spotify there's no risk. You can dig in to hundreds of bands in a couple months.

not a long watch, but takeaway is it’s pretty bleak and bands are dead for good. costs too much for labels, artists don’t need to be in bands because everyone wants to be the star and you can digitally produce the rest of the sound yourself
the only way they come back is if young generation rejects digital music and “AI” sound and that makes real music extra popular in a rebellious type of way since AI music will sound too perfect

These songs are obviously made as raunchy comedy, but the actual vocals and the music are incredibly solid. Hard to compete with Rhoda Hardcock in real life.

It depends on what you want to hear. If you’re looking for rock bands like the in the 70’s through the 90’s that played on mainstream radio, you don’t find channels like that anymore. If you’re into college radio/alternative or other styles, there’s no shortage of new music. There are a lot more bands that are really one guy who does everything with the help of a computer to mix it all, then tours with other musicians when performing live. The streaming services or playlists on YouTube will always introduce to new music.

You can find these guys who are “trailblazers” and experimenting with new and old sounds if you search hard enough on streaming platforms. I have found so many great small artists on Spotify.
