We looked overmatched from both a talent and schematic perspective last year when our offense and their defense was on the field….i thought we lost the game between the coaching staffs but won on the field through some breaks, Tiger Stadium magic, and grit.

I think our defense will play well enough to win, but the game will be decided by Golding vs Sloan

Lane hasn’t had to play this defense.

Ole Miss gets way too much respect this year. They will get exposed. I was more concerned w them before the season started.

Lsu wins by two scores.

2024 Ole Miss had MUCH more talent on defense than they do this year

Uhhh yeah. And all those high priced stars are gone this year and OM was unable to be competitive in the portal again.

They had Walter Nolan, Trey Amos, Pegues, Prince Umnialian (sp?), etc.

I think they only returned 1-2 starters.

OM tried to reload through the portal but LSU kicked their arse in it. Hence why Lane said we spent a lot of money.

2024: Ole Miss had more talent than us on that side of ball. They had a good defense. Golding does well with talent.

2025: they got outbid by LSU and others. The talent on D is suspect. LSU gained more talent on O.

I disagree & their defense was much better last year (4 NFL Draft picks)

We won that game last year bc of Baker vs Kiffin & that’s why we will win again this year.

Baker had Ashton Stamps blitzing Dart multiple times from backside.

I can’t wait to see what he has this year

This, I dont know if everyone understands the talent they just lost on defense and simply didnt replace. Sage Ryan is a starting safety there

That Golding and Kiffen sat there and watched LSU motion Lacy into a 1 on 1 situation with that CB that got smoked all game kind of overrides your point.

Golding succeeded purely on talent level, especially across their DL, in 2024. Period. End of story.

In 2023, Ole Miss wasn’t as bad as we were, but they also weren’t much better. They gave up an average of 382 ypg and 5.5 yards per play. We were 416 and 6.1, so they were bottom half of the SEC and not a good unit.

This year they have dropped back to the bottom half of the SEC again. They are better than 23 so far, but still giving up 356.8 and 5.3. That’s 13th in the SEC, and look at the offenses they have played.

Some will point out that their pass defense ranks highly, but Arkansas is the only team they’ve played with a pulse in the passing game, and Green hit them for over 300 yards.

Golding is no fricking mastermind like some of you make him out to be. He recruited well at Bama (not as much so far at OM) and he held a clipboard for Saban. What he’s done in 23 and so far this year at OM are what he is without an NFL DL.

2024 Ole Miss defense had a top defense and one of the best defensive lines in the country. We couldn't run the ball and we still won the game. Nuss made 2 terrible passes and if you take those 2 passes away we likely win in regulation.

Sorry but the Offense last year with no running game performed very well. Zavion also dropped a touchdown at the end of the half that would have been huge. So no Sloan didn't get "Outclassed."

Correct. Game 5 is the game that coordinators start seperating them selves from the pack. They have video of their opponent playing at least one good team, so they are seeing most of the playbook of the opponent. It will be apparent which team schemed better doing the week early in the 1st quarter.

I didn't see that at all.

I can say without a doubt Ole Miss was more talented defensively than what we were offensively.

We weren't outmatched schematically. Truth is that Nuss played horribly the first 3 quarters. LSU's OL held up EXTREMELY well vs Ole Miss's elite DL. I don't believe Nuss was sacked, and if he was it was only once. It was the first time as a starter that Nuss played an elite defense.

Nuss put us in the hole with turnovers and dug us out the hole with great plays in the 4th and OT.

Compare that to this year, they do not have the same talent on defense, and it shows. Nuss should be fairly clean again this year and Ole Miss is susceptible to the deep ball. Their run D is also terrible. We SHOULD be able to run decently here.

This is one of the dumbest takes I’ve read on here.

Ole Miss had a significant talent edge over LSU last year. And, I mean significant! They were bigger, faster, stronger than us.

We win the game on Coaching period. BK out coached Kiffin by a mile. That’s precisely why we won the game.

That and Tre Harris dropping a wide open TD in the first quarter.

There’s a reason Lane is blowing out these nobody schools. He knows the real season is coming and they’re about to get exposed week in and week out

That’s a pretty low bar.
