I have seen at least a couple dozen comments saying we need to use the I-Formation more heavily. Can't help but smile everytime I think of how much this place would melt every time the I-Formation was run out under Les.

The I is a good formation to run or do play action out of....not sure why we can't see both.

Spread only is cycling out. DCs have learned how to defend it which is why you’re seeing the NFL going back to more under center stuff. We were last to the party on the spread.

Only with a good O-line. Spreading out the opponent actually helps when you have weaknesses across the line. Our issues are talent and execution, not formation.

That explanation might hold water if LSU didn't have the same issues last year with an OL who had 4 starters drafted (first time in school history).

What's more likely? LSU has somehow been forced to play 10 different o-linemen, NONE of whom can run block? Or the same approach that has been in place for (now) two seasons, spanning two different OLs, isn't effective because it is a bad approach?

What Sloan is trying to do in the running game simply isn't working. Whether that is because the OL can't block it well, the RBs aren't executing it well, or it's predictable enough that the defense is well prepared to stop it, it doesn't matter. The fact is LSU can't run the ball. So trying to do the same thing over and over hoping for a different result is insanity.

Good coaches figure out what their players can do well and play to those strengths. Poor coaches demand guys fit into their "system" even if the players are suited to execute the system well.

How many games in a row does the coaching staff have to watch before they accept their approach to the running game isn't going to work and decide to change course?

An o-line is as good as its weakest link, not its strongest. How good was that guy in the middle?

We are 4 games into the season and we've rushed for over 100 yards in every game. If we run for 100 yards in every game we will make the playoffs rather easily. Nuss letting it fly some will help open up the run game as well.

This group is ALWAYS gonna bitch about whatever we are doing, even if it’s what they previously bitched about that we weren’t doing. Bunch of unhappy humans.

I don’t know that anyone wanted to fully get away from it. Even in 2019, we all loved Tory Carter cracking facemasks. LSU has gotten completely away from it for some dumb reason.

that is the classic PRO SET with the split back formation

we used it with garry james and dalton hilliard

pro set aka split backs

i also like shotgun splits with 3 WR or 2 WR and 1 TE. we never run that tho.

Defenses seem to have figured out how to slow the run out of these newer formations.

Seems like many rushing stats are down this year.
