Climbing Stick Recs

Looking at upgrading my climbing sticks before this season arrives. Does anybody have anything they recommend? I've been using some Hawk Heliums and a couple of set ladders in places but the Hawk's have kicked out on me a couple of times and I want something more reliable.

What's your budget?
The X2s are on sale right now. My buddy has them and they're pretty damn nice for the price.

Love my X2s. Good standoff, pack decently, and great weight for the price. Hard to beat at ~$40 a piece.

If money wasn’t an issue I’d get Tethrd One’s but since I’m a cheapskate I have XOP X2’s. XOP is my favorite of the budget saddle hunting brands. I really like Tethrd and Lattitude offerings for the pricier brands and have a Lattitude saddle.

Pretty intrigued by these. Looks like Beast stick knock offs, but that price is nice for what you get with the 4 pack.
Trophyline Rivals
I have a set of tethrd skeletors that I use on a normal basis, and a set of old school lone wolfs but I can't stand having only single sided steps...makes it a pain trying to hand stands but doable. Much rather double steps.

What I have. Used a coupon. They really are great. Light and easy to carry.

So many to choose from these days, but i love my Beast sticks. I have Hawk Heliums also, but I despise the folding steps.

I haven’t used sticks in a while but this thread prompted me to look at some again. I ordered some hawk helium gen 2 30” from black ovis. Got 3 of them for $100 after tax using a 10% off coupon.
I figured that would satisfy me for now without breaking the bank, because I was about to pull the trigger on some LWCG before I let my buddy talk me out of it.

In my opinion, the Tethrd One’s are the best sticks on the market. Extremely lightweight, bite into the tree like crazy, and are quick and easy to set on the tree. I use 4 of them.
If they didn’t exist, I would probably go with either Treestix, or Trophyline Hyperlites. The treestix are pricey though, especially if you add aiders to them. The hyperlites are little heavier, but they pack flat.
Hunt arsenal Icons are pretty cool too. I use their platforms and bought one of their saddles this year. They make some good products. They were supposed to release carbon icons this year, but after dropping them, they stopped advertising them altogether. I guess they had problems finalizing them. I was planning on buying a set, so that sucked.

quote:Agreed. I just added 4 of them and the GC One 2-step aider to my arsenal. I love how quick and easy they are to setup.

How high can you get with 4 of the tetherd one sticks (no aiders)?
Posted on 9/23/25 at 7:40 pm to TigerDog83
Depends on how tall/limber you are, but you should be able to get 20’ with 4 sticks pretty easily

I can get as high as I want to get either with 4 sticks or with only 1. When I carry my 4 Beast sticks I have one 3 step aider that stays on the bottom stick. That let's me get the first step up pretty high. Then I use a Backwoods Versa-Aider, it's very cool. You basically clip it to your belt and cinch the other end around your foot. I space the remaining sticks out enough where I can lift my knee up and get the aider loop around the button on the stick. Lets me add an extra step height between sticks.
Caveat's to this though, I don't come down the same way. I would have no problem coming down with the versa-aider, but I don't like climbing down a rope aider, especially in the dark. I rappel down. Much easier and faster.
I've one-sticked in places I didn't feel like carrying 4 sticks or if I really wanted to get high. I have a 40ft rappel rope and last year I had the end 5ft off the ground. I was about 35ft high and only used 1 stick with a 3 step aider. Takes more physical exertion, but it's cool when you are that high and the tree below you has no sticks on it. To clarify I do this same method whether it is a saddle platform or hang on stand.

I see that first lite camo. Can't hide money.
UPS delivered this today. Looking forward to playing around with it this weekend. I really like the ape canyon webbed aider over the amsteel I'd been using. Ready to hunt weight is a hair over 3 lbs.

Depends. If i have to go over branches to get to cover about 15 minutes. I can usually be set in under 10 though. I take it slow to try and be quiet.
