Just rewatched this absolute comedy classic for the umpteenth time .. i am 46 , and it just occurred to me as i was watching- i thought for the longest time, like most of my adult life- that the automatic pilot in a commercial airplane was literally an inflatable guy that would pop up and fly the plane … I probably didn’t realize it was just a button until about 10 years ago .

That’s a true story, just had to get that off my chest .

It took me the longest time to notice they're flying in a jet but the sound is a prop.

I've watched that movie many, many times and I've never realized this.

This explains a lot. What else do you think you might be wrong about?

Challenge your convictions.

Don't feel too bad. When my wife was a small child she pointed to a semi's cabin and asked her dad what that was. She meant the small, storage unit door below the cabin but he didn't know that so he said, "that's where the truckers sleep." Being very young (6 or 7) she imagined they must shimmy into it, then filed that away to never go over it again.

And then the flood of 2016 happened. The short version is that it led to a quick but hilarious conversation where she thought truckers who had reportedly been parked in the Millerville/Old Hammond area as the flood waters rose were going to drown in their beds because they couldn't get out.

Once she looked at it with adult eyes, she snort-laughed.

I think it's still unbeaten for just the sheer number of jokes packed in to the movie.

The PA arguing over the zones is probably my favorite bit in comedy

And I’ve paused the boob scene ever since there was a pause button.

I must admit, I felt a little uncomfortable when I watched the movie Gladiator and I liked it.

It's one of those things that's so subtle you never really notice it, but when you do you feel kind of stupid for not.

This kind of subtlety is what makes so many of the jokes work in this movie.
