Will be in New Orleans this weekend and the wife has been scouring the internet looking for good restaurants and such.
Came across Gw Finn’s. Looks good but I noticed it’s near bourbon, I tend to stay away from there because it’s a tourist trap.
Worth going or stay away?

Feel free to drop and good seafood or steakhouse recommendations!
TIA

It is in a generally touristy area, but it’s not a tourist trap at all.

You’ll enjoy the meal there.

Are you staying overnight?

One of the best and most consistent restaurants in the city. Lobster dumplings and the scalibut is what I usually get.

It's definitely worth it and you will be pleased with the experience
I think the food is actually better than Commanders Palace these days

It's a great seafood restaurant. Very good.

Uber there and back.

If you go and they have the dry aged tuna, get it don't worry about any other entree. Trust me on this.

Great restaurant. They are know for their Parmesan Crusted Sheepshead. I know, we never ate Sheepshead growing up, but it was fantastic. Their bread (biscuit) is off the charts as well. I would highly recommend it.

We’ve been to GW Fins several times and never have disappointed. Great steaks and seafood.

I still can’t believe so many people still consider this a trash fish.

But so be it. Keep throwing them back so I can catch and eat them.

Agree. Favorite meal I’ve had in the past year.

Only eaten there once but get the lobster bisque. Everything’s good but I would have rather had several bowls of it.

I have never understood people liking this place. I genuinely don’t get it.

However I have not been since they remodeled from their 90s decor.

I've only been since the remodel, and I thought it was absolutely fantastic. Admittedly, that's just a style of food I really love. Trendy and modern is fun, but there's just something about a traditional seafood restaurant that executes it very well that I love.

I'm hoping to get there Thanksgiving week. Also have to find a place for Thanksgiving day that will have seafood options, any recommendations besides Commanders?
