And Jalen Hurts has only 2 completions over 10 air yards so far this season. Their defense is filthy. I understand what BK is trying to do, and it's very valid. The difference, however, is that the Eagles can run the ball at will and we cannot. It is much easier to win games with your defense when you can control the clock through the running game. If you cannot run like that then you put a ton of pressure on your defense. And then one blown coverage could cost you the game if there's no offensive holding next time.

I'm confident that it'll get better as Kelly's teams always start slow. Just need it to happen before it starts costing us games

Another important difference is the Eagles have a proven record of post-season success and are coming off a championship

That's the point. It should give some credibility to what BK is trying to do here. I wouldn't have used the Cleveland Browns as an example for anything good

We need to run the tush push with Ju'Juan at QB.

That and the multiple-"FB" look where Durham got the big run should be our go to looks in any short yardage situations.

Last year we started 6 and 1.
Finished 2 and 3 in the regular season.

Offense was pretty good 1st part

This is a quote from BK concerning the offense under Joe Sloan.

"We have a top 10 defense in the country, and we need to play to that strength. And so, sometimes you have to pull back a little bit here and there"

What? Because you have a great defense, you need to pull back on the offense. Just in case what? You score too much? I understand that if you're struggling on offense. So just say that.

You seem fairly clueless on football coaching.

Is that right? So if you have a great defense, then "it's football coaching"
to pull back on the offense trying to score as an explanation for offensive struggles?
No, you rely on your great defense BECAUSE your offense is struggling.
And yes, you can take less chances because you have a great defense. But you don't try to pull back the offense from its normal execution of trying to score.

Pulling back on the offense and taking less risks are the same thing.

After the script plays, you call plays according to game flow and score. If you're ahead of a great opp defense that has a meh offense by a couple scores it's senseless to call risky plays when you're D is killing them.

Dude, pulling back isn’t just ‘less risk'. It’s handcuffing an offense with Nussmeier and guys like Barion Brown. LSU’s at 20 points a game, 84th in yards, scraping by with 5.26 yards per play. That’s not strategy. That's execution failing. You don’t throttle scoring because the D’s elite, you fix the O and let it rip. We barely beat Florida by 10, saved by five picks. That’s not coaching smarts. That's dodging a bullet. Why choke the offense when we’re barely outgaining Louisiana Tech?

You do. Pulling back means taking less risk, and taking less risk means less reward. No doubt the offense is failing to execute. The way taking less risk is supposed to work is the way Les Miles did it. He had a good, but not great, offense and a stifling defense. The offense put up a fair amount of points because it executed a bunch of low risk stuff and the defense kept giving it opportunities.

That’s what this coaching staff was going for, but it’s not being executed well.
