A rational take on the offense & how we fix it

1. Start running more under center. Teams don’t see it nearly as often, it allows Durham to get downhill and lets your O-Line see man, hit man.
2. Quit even trying the Zone Read. If Nuss isn’t willing to pull it, this goes back to point 1. Either put the ball in Durhams gut or have Nuss run true play action.
3. Find an identity. If we’re going to run down the play clock every damn down, then commit to running. If we aren’t going to commit to the run, then start getting the play call in quicker. We’re going to put way too much pressure on our defense to continue to be perfect unless we either manufacture more drives, or start actually controlling clock.

Number 1 isn't going to happen. Regarding number 3, even when we had Daniels, we struggled (and were criticized nationally) for not having an identity. These aren't new problems.

I mean, I guess you can say that the first year he started. It was pretty obvious our identity his second year

Valid point. Our identity was to let our generational talent at QB throw it to our 2 NFL star WRs or tuck it and run. Outside of Daniels, LSU has never been able to run the ball under Brian Kelly.

Better add a fullback also because our o-line needs all the help they can get. Now we'll be back to the old I formation and when that doesn't work everyone will be yelling for us to spread them out.
Formation is not the problem. Blocking (run blocking especially) is the problem and has been the problem since Kelly got here.

Why do people think we're just constantly running zone read?
Those are mostly RPO's or "shotgun play action".

We don't have an identity because we have a shitty OC. I think he's probably good at everything other than calling plays during a game. He doesn't seem smart enough to be able to call plays in the short window that is required to do so. Probably something he'll never figure out.

That is not a rational take, and not the way to fix the offense. You completely missed the most important thing to fix the offense. Passing downfield. We obviously struggle tremendously running. Why would you suggest continuing to do what we can't do?
Hilton had 0 touches, Barion Brown had 2, Nic Anderson 1, Aaron Anderson 4. The issue is we are not feeding our playmakers the ball down field. Gaining 3 yards isn't going to get you in the endzone. Gaining 15 yards will.

Sigh. We dont run a zone read. We run a zone RUN. Very different.
Please, stop commenting about our offense if you dont even know what we actually run.

Nuss had 55% completion percentage. Rewatch the game. Count how many Florida put in the box in the 4th quarter. Ill ruin it for you because I know you are lazy. 9.
Why did Florida put 9 in the box? Because they weren't worried about Nuss. He had an awful day and besides that Aaron Anderson TD looked pedestrian.

More slants and go routes.
The slant has been successful when we go to it. We just dont go to it enough.
We should throw the go route a couple of times every single game. With our speed, Nuss could let it rip fairly quickly to keep the Oline from having to hold their blocks too long and let our speed guys try to run the ball down.
We should use the pass to set up the run. Pass on first down more than we run it.

Zone Read.
This is why TD forums access without an aptitude test is a bad idea. We give guys like this a voice and 9 other people have agreed with it.
We dont run Zone Read. We run a zone RUN. Have you ever seen Nuss pull the ball from the RB and run with it?

How do you fix being undefeated and ranked # 3 in the country ? Hmmm .. just keep winning and fudge all the winey geek fans that are always in desperate need to score style points . Winning is everything !!

We can't block anyone now. Let alone line up under center.

After going through everything with Les Miles, I never thought I’d be wanting to see the toss dive again. What a time lol

Well yes. Clemson, either first or second quarter. Either way, Nuss is reading the end on those and it makes the run slow developing.

Let me solve it for you. We could probably win a natty with a good OC but that’s not happening. You go to war with the army u have etc
We have to throw the ball to be able to
Run it. We have to go this to make them get 9-10 men out of the box. Nuss needs to be at a 60-65% completion rate to do this. 55% will not do it

Florida was playing 2 deep so nothing was going over the top. Anderson dropped a pass that would have gone for a TD after the INT right before half. Nuss longest play was to Sharp and beautiful play.
The best drive of the night was when they did not substitute players and Nuss hit the quick slants and they ran quick toss dives. The defenses they have played took away the deep plays. The WRs need to get better separation too.
