LSU Has a Great Chance to Run the Table -- Here's Why

The primary pushback everyone will give is "but the Offense" -- and for good reason -- and you'd be right, but not for the reason you'd think --
In UF's last 7 games -- their defense has allowed an average of 12.8 pts -- 2 of those games were against LSU, 1 against Ole Miss --
The reality is simple -- defenses are adapting to the RPO with smaller LBs and defensive lines -- similar to LSU's 2011 team that adapted their defense to beat Oregon's spread offense -- LSU's 2025 defense is not only comparable -- but they are in a far better environment as every team is now fully immersed in the chicken-shite offense of RPO -- turn on any game in college football and you will see EXACTLY the same shite formations on offense --
The truth is this: if you don't have Lamar Jackson or Jayden Daniels -- the RPO is not an optimal scheme against modern defenses -- check Texas struggling on Offense against UTEP -- but but, TN's offense!!? It's an RPO -- but but Georgia's Offense -- it's an RPO -- and neither TN nor Georgia have fully adapted their defense to stop it like LSU or UF --
"L(f)agway struggled, he melted down" -- yes he did, because LSU's elite personnel and defense, designed to stop a ridiculously complicated offense, that foolishly puts 100% of its success on the back of the QB, did what it was supposed to do: they harassed the shite out of him, never gave him breathing room to run out the pocket, baited him into bad throws --
LSU won 2 national titles with field managers at QB because the offense was designed to distribute the offense to the RBs, TEs (when used properly) and set up the defenses with play-action -- Nuss is a better QB than many of you give him credit for -- note Durham's 50 yard run last night -- watch how the offense picked up every defender with blocks because they ran the play under center, had 2 blockers leading in front of Durham -- beautful play -- Nuss under center with a 7 step drop and stepping up in the pocket would be unbelievably good --
I expect LSU to continue to shut down RPOs the entire year -- I expect Nuss to continue to do the best he can in an offense that's designed for Tim Tebow and Cam Newton -- I expect the rest of the country to struggle on offense when pitted against a defense that knows how to stop it -- LSU wins --

what do you think an RPO is?

bama will violate this team repeatedly…

I'm afraid you're right.

Could just line up under center and pick up yards via the I formation and have a 3 step drop

Nobody will “violate this team repeatedly” with the defense.
I expect a loss or 2 before the regular season is over but we will be in every game.

NO you DO NOT need a LJ or JD to run RPO. we are not talking ZONE READ....we are talking RPO where a Qb does NOT have to run at all.
we have been through this shite AD INFINITUM here for years.

Someone want to tell Sloan?

you are clueless
we are NOT running POWER SPREAD. where are the power reads and QB powers with Nuss that those guys ran? We canot even run a damn ZONE READ with nuss effectively because he does not wanna run!
because you see shotgun spread formations with some meshes you think it is all the same?
The only thing correct is yes we need to get back under center either in ACE or I formations.

I agree and it is not just the RPO. We need to quit running the zone read if Nuss is never going to pull it and run it. We would be better off just lining up and running a standard formation. BK even said late in his PC that they may need to look at running from the I-formation.
We used to bitch about the toss lead...

Apparently we just need to score more than 10 to win with this defense

you are football ignorant about what an ACTUAL RPO is. vertical or horizontal.
So RPO has never been run sucessfully as a nice component by other teams or QB's? Only LJ and JD?

I know exactly what an RPO is and we run it horribly when it is a run option. Our line does not block it worth a shite. We play off a passive OL pass pro formation and when its a run the DL is already a yard in the backfield and we are not finessing the read DE and fooling anyone. We can pass off of it but that is about it. So it is pretty much one dimensional for us

You aint quoting me bro... that was the poster I responded to. Actually Burrow and company ran it pretty dam good. High risk/reward system and you have to be pretty damn good to run it. Looks like we aint that good at doing it.

Well I hope you are right. I do know that something has to change to put more diversity in our offense. It just just helmet on helmet at the los presently and LSU loses that battle 9 out of 10 times. Our RB's deserve better.

Or just a point more than the other team

You know nothing about football, that much is evident.
