Anytime I open up social media, I’m reminded of evil people. Killers, those who celebrate killers, etc.

I touched some grass today, spent time with my daughter. She’s so innocent, so adorable, and all I start thinking is that I hope she will adore me and run to me with arms open for a hug. You know, the way videos show Charlie’s kids running to him after a show.

My mind is so scattered. I truly know why parents always fear for the world in which their child will grow up. My daughter will have to worry about public transportation, where to sit in public, and I’ll need to reiterate to her that she can’t be glued to her phone with 2 earbuds in.

I can easily accept the fact that I might be labeled for walking on the other side of the street or for sitting away from a particular group of people. Now, it’s my responsibility to teach her to be ok with that also.

I’ve tried to distract myself at home this evening, but I just can’t. There’s people that are friends of friends of friends, gloating about this on social media, and there will be zero repercussions.

I can only hope that come Saturday, the bourbon will flow smoothly and I can forget for a few hours.

Grieving is a process that takes time.

Get off of social media. Be with friends and loved ones and enjoy a football game.

Honestly, you can go down dark paths if you seek them out on social media. Take a time out imo

We all watched someone murdered almost in real time

It’s gonna take some time to process it

We weren’t meant to see this shite on almost a daily basis

I honestly had no idea how much of an infatuation there was with this dude until the last 24 hours.

Kids are getting shot in school almost weekly. That should bother everyone just as much

I’m a teacher and a father, of course that bothers me.

Unfortunately, and even with this, I’m censored in certain environments. That holds true for lots of us. The world caters to the other side. They’re allowed to be hateful, murderous, evil people. But because we live in a country of foolish people, the narrative will be that guys like me (white, middle aged, Christian, conservatives) are the threat.

It does bother me, we live in a broken society.

It isn't happening weekly though.

Nobody blames you for not being able to focus on this game, but if we're being honest, you just jeopardized this board for the rest of us as an escape and avenue to take our minds off of that shite. A "don't forget about me" chicken-shite post, ala "people posting "thoughts and prayers".
Leave this fricking board for football, please and thank you.

Then in a way that’s a problem. Not personal to you. Infatuation with nothing but political talk tends to lead towards resentment, anger, etc. Fueled by social media getting views to get you addicted.

A great Saturday enjoying what’s good in life sounds like great medicine at the moment for our brains

Or just another way to forget and move on, which we shouldn't do.

Same. He was one of a number of public figures I only knew about from their being referred to on this site. I inferred he was somewhat polarizing but I'm pretty sure I've never heard him speak before yesterday.

Political violence is a bad road to start down, full stop. But when it gets to be a winner take all bloodsport it doesn't surprise me much when something like this happens.

There are entities fomenting this divisiveness for their own ends and all too many people are falling for it.

This is where I’m at. There’s NOTHING that compares to your little girl running into your arms. I feel bad for people that haven’t experienced it.

I’m honestly just trying to tune out at this point and watch some football because I’m so goddamned mad right now it’s not healthy.

infatuation is an interesting word choice.

It could be that Charlie was not unlike a lot of American men … on this site and beyond. A Christian. A Conservative. A Husband. A Father. And he was publicly executed for having the audacity to sit down and engage in good-faith conversations with people he disagreed with politically.

Yes, the death of children is always horrific, but CK’s death should also be disturbing to everyone. I don’t think we should make this a competition.

Well said. I can’t stand folks snapping about 2nd amendment topics that distract from the awfulness of the act and heaviness of children being murdered.

Similarly, I may not like his business strategies on social media but this happening, is as insane. Awful

Revised to remove God's name,
but yes, I'm so damn mad, so much damn hurt, so much torn between what Jesus taught is the right thing to do vs what I wish I could .... I'm so damn mad that I am living in a time when someone feels they need to take the life of another just because their views and opinions are different.

Despite what many have said, this was not a political killing, this was satan at work.

I will stop here before I get to the point I was at yesterday which is in no way healthy both emotionally nor spiritally nor physically.

For me it’s that we are basically the same age with kids that are basically the same age. My views and the views he expressed probably overlap on like 95% of things. He’s not some Nick Fuentes or Milo Yiannopoulos type who say crazy things to get people worked up. It shows that they have a group of people out there that would happily be okay with killing me, and others who would cheer them on for it.
