I was late for work (traffic) and got to my office in a 40+ story high rise in major U.S. city not named New York…to find bunch of people gathered in adjacent vacant office watching TV of New York events. Plane 1 just hit.

When plane 2 hit, I just knew every high rise in America had a plane weapon target on it. Got my people to evacuate and got me a cab home. Waited for cab in nearby bldg lobby where I saw WTC 1st bldg collapse.

The world changed forever in that moment.

5th Grade. Remember all the teachers gathering around the TV distraught and my mother vividly upset when she got home from work.

I was a senior at Redemptorist. My mom was freaking out because we're so close to Exxon.

Gym class

Principal used the PA system to announce the first plane hitting the tower.

By the time we got to the next period (social studies) the teacher had the TV on and the second tower was hit.

We watched the coverage for the rest of the day and all evening when we got home.

4th year in college(not a senior...). Guy I hung out with lost his dad that day. He was in one of the towers on business. They never found any trace of him.

10th grade English. Someone came and whispered to the teacher then the teacher announced it to the class. Spent most of the day watching coverage in classes with TVs.

4th grade. In one of those little trailers they put as add ons to the school. Teachers were all huddled up and talking real quiet. Walked home from school that day and the tower footage was on basically every channel. Even MTV. I remember i couldn't get away from seeing it.

9th grade keyboarding class. The school had a fire alarm, we all went outside like a normal fire drill, except this one was an exceptionally long time before they let us back in and all the teachers/admin were huddled up together, assuming passing word of what had just happened and what to do with students. They let us back into class and turned on all the TVs to watch coverage and not long after watched live as the second plane hit. The teacher turned it off after that, and the rest of the school day was spent going class to class where some teachers let us watch coverage, others didn't even hardly acknowledge we were in class, not a single one attempted to get any teaching done that day.

I was in a Turkish owned convenient store two doors down from work. Walked in and it was playing on the TV he had behind the counter.
Turkish owner was bawling crying, and said "those terrorists have fricked up now."

That's interesting. Most people didn't know it was an attack until the second plane.
