How much did your divorce cost?

I honestly don’t have a clue so asking as I’m always hearing about long, drawn out divorces in real life and on this site. Lawyers, kids, and assets involved.
How much did your divorce cost when all was said in done? Are we talking thousands, tens of thousands, more?
Hoping I never have to go through something like that.

Not giving your wife that first class seat is going to cost you now.

After everything was done, it was around $25-30k, and we had a semi-amicable divorce with no dispute over child custody.

Obligatory:
Why do divorces cost so much?
Because they are worth it…

as with all legal answers, it depends.
Does each side have their own attorney? Are they going to rack up countless hours with you contesting everything?
I've seen couples file themselves with only court costs and I've seen couples fight it out costing + $100K
Some are cheap. Some are very expensive.

In 2007 my husband and I nearly divorced... his lawyer's retainer was $2,800, mine was $5,000.
It didn't go further than that, legally... so, that's all I got.

Was wondering about these. One of the wife’s friends has been going through a rough divorce for months. Lawyers, private investigators, etc. All seems pretty petty and not worth it. Wondering how much they’re spending and what something like that costs. Hard to believe it’s worth it in the end.
Everytime I hear the chick talk, it seems more like a contest at this point and I have to believe only the lawyers are the ones winning.

Just under $350, no joke. Cut a check for $342 to her lawyer to pay the filing.

About $20K. But that was 10 years ago. I'm sure retainers have gone up since then.

Not trashy, no divorces.
Not much choice if the other half becomes trashy 20 years in.

I probably have $200k+ racked up in legal (about to have a 4th round of bullshite to deal with).
Assets? We split almost $5mm pretty much 50/50.
Child support? By the time it’s done that’s going to run about $400k.
It’s damn expensive for only one of us to decide to pursue “happiness”. Now she’s remarried and making husband 2’s life miserable. Like I tell my kids “I hate what it did to our family, the kids in particular, but I’m happier now than I was. I also occasionally have to remind her I’ve paid and am paying a lot of money not to have to deal with her bullshite.

Barf. Did she make good money as well?

With God as my witness, my divorce truly cost me $350.
$700 for the lawyer and we split it down the middle.
