Spenser didn't lose the game, but he also didn't win it.

And his record in college and the pros would back that up. Some solid nice throws, decent scrambling ability, ok arm strength, but he's not a franchise stud.

That last pass should have been caught. I'm not saying hes a great QB or the future but that throw in that spot is about as close to "winning it" as a QB can come. He needs his $30M TE to hang on to a difficult but catchable ball.

He’s fine. We’re rebuilding.
Let him play some games, give him a chance to prove if he has another gear (he doesn’t, but be fair to the player). Let Shough keep learning in the meantime. After some time, go to Shough and repeat the process.
By the end of the season we need to be able to definitively say whether we think either of these guys have franchise QB upside, because unless something crazy happens, we WILL be in QB range in next years draft.
There are lots of dudes on this board who think it’s a foregone conclusion we will draft one..and I agree it’s likely, but we would be a lot better off if we end up not needing to and can take another position to make the rebuild that much shorter.
So..just let the staff go through the process and find out what we have at Qb, and in the meantime we will keep developing the scheme and other young players.

What's crazy is that you can take the OPs exact comments & say the same things about Shough's college career & preseason performances.
OP is severely overwhelmed by the Great War.

Why you so mad Francis?

Let him play .. if he's 0-6 or something close, then you throw Shough in there to see what we got.
If everyone on this board is right, then we'll be picking another QB even higher next year, and that player will be 50/50 boom or bust just like every other QB

I remember in the good 'ol days how horrible the Saints were. However, what made Saints fans fun was that they were knowledgeable. This forum shows how things have changed.

This place used to have some really good back & forth discussions. Remember when posters got called out regularly for running their mouths when they didn't provide a credible link to back their useless opinions? And Bleacher Report wasn't considered a legit source?

He made a hell of a good pass to Juwan for TD, that was all Juwan’s fault foe not coming down with it

Olave had a 1% chance at catching that pass. They almost killed a photographer because it was so far at the perimeter. Plus, the Cardinals DB was in good position.

There was nothing open on that pass. It didn't matter. The one before was a game winner.

The game winner? My goodness do any of you watch the game? It was 20-13. That pass would have made it 20-19. Absolutely should have been caught and not on rattler but we still needed a 2 pt conversion or XP made then win in OT. And the way kickers looked on sunday in general, the xp wasnt a given.

Christ man some of you really are retarded so let me break it down for you as if you are in 1st grade.
His average college record and his below average pro film is telling you that's what he is. Average. The tape does not lie. Sorry to hurt your feelings.

Colston made that catch regularly. Peak Jimmy makes that catch. Shockey makes that catch. Ben Watson makes that catch. Hell Lance Moore and Willie Snead both make that catch. He had both hands on it and got it to his body. Again, I'm not saying its a gimme but you have to catch that ball.

Who knows what that catch could have done for Rattler going forward had Juwan held onto the ball. That was as Brady/Brees/Mahomes as the come in regards to the perfect throw at the time it was needest most.
So of course, Juwan - the king of unclutch - drops it. It was a tough arse catch, but he's paid handsomely to catch the damn ball.

I watched it. We would have gone for 2 and tried to win it. Coaching wasn't very good last week. Moore needs to clean up in that department. I know he's a rookie HC but not having Kamara in the passing game hurt.
