If you see a Pulitzer photograph, my first reaction is...What is the story behind this?

They are often brutal. More often than not, they depict horrible scenes. It's a small moment captured on film.

This is a frame from a video and it hit me in the gut. She worked at a pizza restaurant. she was going home from work.

The mainstream media has not yet learned that they can no longer suppress coverage of a story. The story and photos will spread on the internet. Furthermore, the more they try to suppress the story (or the perp's information), the more it gets spread around.

Anyone seen wearing a hoodie like that in the summer should be arrested and taken downtown for questioning.

Taxpayers should not have to feed this bastard for the long haul.

Drop his arse off in the middle of Donbas wrapped in a Ukrainian flag and let the Ruskies have at him.

I've made a conscious effort never to say derogatory terms about blacks in front of my kids and to not be biased or racist in any way in front of them. After I saw this video I talked with my little girl (14 yrs.) and told her about stereotyping and how its always taught as a bad thing. I told her stereotyping is actually like her natural instinct (pattern recognition) telling her something and its a natural tendency that shouldn't be dismissed. I then said to always be aware of her surroundings and if something doesn't look or feel right to avoid that situation. I feel terrible for the girl in that video and I hope my daughter would never take a seat next to someone that looks like that. I will definitely be changing the way I talk to my kids about other people, races, etc. Shite like this is getting out of control and it's even scarier that it's not being blasted 24/7 by the mainstream media.

Agreed but that's like 75% of males ages 14-20.

What bothers me more is all the people around him didn’t do shite. What kind of persons sees what’s going on and does nothing. Throw a shoe at him. Throw your phone as hard as you can at his face. Do something. They should all be arrested as accessories.

I haven't seen the entire video, and I usually would agree with you. But in an instant, the attack happened. It was over in a second. My first reaction would be to help the girl, but I am assuming she was stabbed near the throat area. Moments like this will freeze a person. Again, not suggesting they shouldn't have done something, but it must have been a paralyzing situation that no one on that train expected. And by the time they processed what happened, the perp was trying to escape.

I don’t disagree with you in principle. But I think everyone thought he just hits her, not stabs her on the neck. I’m not excusing anybody, but that’s my only rational reasoning. I mean even she doesn’t seem to realize what happened either because it was all over in a couple of seconds.

But the bystander effect is definitely a real thing.

ETA: although I just finally saw the whole video and it’s more damning for people who didn’t help her. He had to have hit her jugular because she looks like she bleeds out in a few seconds. Damn. Terrible shite.

Around 1995 when I lived in New Orleans, I was going to my then boyfriend's house to pick him up and head for the movies. While I was parking on Prytania, I noticed three black teens/young adults headed toward me on the opposite side of the street. I made a conscious effort to NOT stereotype them. As I walked to my boyfriends front door (luckily he was waiting outside for me,) they ambushed us with guns looking for cash. I only had my car keys in my hand, having left my purse in the car. They took his wallet and ran. No idea why they didn't steal the car.

TL:DR Not stereotyping gets guns in your face.

I take railroad pictures, which puts me in some shitty neighborhoods (e.g. the SW side of downtown Shreveport). I never go there without a big, protective dog. I had a Belgian Malinois, then an Aussie who was more protective and bold that the Malinois. She also would obey a litany of commands related to strangers coming up - block, sweep, get them, hold, and then a command to whip arse (which I only had to use once on a meth head swinging a bat). She worked that bat swinger over.

Now that I have two dogs that aren't protective (though one looks like a badass), I stay out of that area unless I have company (usually a retired dentist friend who is always packing).

And the less anyone believes them moving forward.

They arent telling a version of the truth, they are straight up manipulating people.
