why do you care? is it because your parents still pay your bills?

You whine a lot about money for someone of such vast wealth.

~1% per year ain’t bad. That’s acceptable to me.
In 2012, I paid ~10% of my home’s valuation for my total insurance cost.
I voted with my feet.
There should be a reasonable premium for living close to a body of water that gets destructive every decade or so.

Windstorm Insurance is Not Legally Mandated:
Texas does not have a law that mandates every homeowner must carry windstorm insurance.
Lenders Require Coverage:
If you live in an area prone to hurricanes and have a mortgage, your lender will likely require you to have windstorm coverage as a condition of the loan.
Why do your baller parents have a mortgage?

My parents aren’t ballers and their house is paid off but rented

Shiiiit. I wish mine was only $4k. In some parts of Louisiana people in a 1k sq ft house are paying $4k.

Is that part of it? Honest question. I thought homeowners in a rental is rated differently?

Then there's no one stopping them from dropping the wind coverage and self insuring.

Damn that sucks. I pay about 5500 for a 950k house in south Louisiana. Wind coverage included.

The house I was in was built in 1970.
I knew the guy who had it built and I know the folks who bought it from me.
From 1970 to the present (55 years) there has been exactly one claim on the homeowner’s policy.
I’m pretty sure it’s been a win for BigInsurah.
