One of the leading contenders for LSU’s vacant leadership role has removed her name from consideration.

U.S. Rep. Julia Letlow, a Republican from Northeast Louisiana whose district includes LSU, took herself out of the running Wednesday morning during an interview on “Mornings with Brian Haldane” on Talk 107.3 in Baton Rouge.

“I’ve prayed about it. I’ve decided that now is not the right time to pursue the presidency of LSU,” Letlow told Haldane.

Why is she popular? What has she done? I appreciate her conservatism but I’d vote for Fleming or Miguez over her against Cassidy. What’s the attraction?

Hard No to Fleming.
Miguez or Letlow are both huge upgrades from Cassidy.

I have nothing against Letlow, but she only got the seat because her husband died. That, in itself, doesn’t make her unqualified, but I would think there are better candidates for the US senate. Sadly, she’s still probably an upgrade from Cassidy.

So she is going to split the vote between her and Fleming (who is leading) and guarantee Cassidy wins - Great.

Not Cassidy.

Kind of attractive and pleasant looking.

Cassidy has proven to be worse.

Right when Cassidy was reelected he turned left and joined McConnell and passed the Democrat agenda.

Right now, Cassidy wants you to forget about all that.

Can we guarantee that Letlow won't do the same? No.

But we know Cassidy has a proven track record of stabbing Louisiana voters in the back once reelected.

If Letlow is the best option to take down Cassidy I'm willing to chance it with Letlow. After reelection Cassidy joining Democrats to pass their agenda is a guarantee. With Letlow there is a better chance she votes conservatively.

Letlow will vote the way Louisiana wants her to - something Cassidy fails at.

She won't write any legislation or "work" like our leaders should, but we'll get the right vote.

I'd give her a chance for a term and see what she does, especially if Cassidy is the alternative.

You people keep posting shite like this obviously not understanding it will take 50%+1 for someone to win the closed primary. If no one gets that the first go round, then there will be a runoff between the top two GOP vote getters.

If Cassidy wins the primary, it’ll be because a majority of Republican voters who turn out vote for him. It doesn’t matter how many Republicans in the initial race.

Dye her hair blonde and add some years and she’ll look like CKM, maybe she can bring a championship to Louisiana.

She's a shoe-in to continue as a US Rep. She might run for Senator but I don't see that happening. Cassidy has nearly a $10M war chest. She would have to start fund raising now and plan to give up her House seat, with no guarantee she could win. Then she's an unemployed single mother looking for a job

Well she’s well qualified.

She’s a republican not named Cassidy!

Why would you think someone would have to be “MAGA” to have a large campaign war chest?

I don’t think she will run for US Senate.

Trump is not going to endorse her despite what Jeff Landry is telling people

Letlow is attractive, but her voting record is Bill Cassidy 2.0

Fleming has literally nothing to offer and he’s 75 years old

Skrmetta…

Miguez is a solid candidate with a good first Fundraising quarter. He is your next US senator if the field stays like it is
