Sloan Play calling- It was a Masterclass

I know many of yall have complained about the play calling...I think a lot of that is due to it not looking like traditional run game. But overall it was a master class. The only people I have seen complaining it was same old same old are the guys on here, specifically the scoreboard saying it wasnt creative. If you think this was not creative than you dont know ball at all
Coach Dan Casey did a lost on Twitter highlighting many of these and figured be good to show here

oh i agree on those, it wasnt perfect but it was damn good because clemson was showing 2 high most of the night....with that and the dline combined with new Oline the plan was to get the ball ot..hence the 2.1s to ball release on average. it worked and he was really creative in the run game to get things going.

Haters gonna hate but Sloan called a low-risk game with misdirection plays allowing for big throwing windows. We gained over 300 ydsagainst a #4 ranked home team with 16 returning starters and multiple projected NFL players on defense while breaking in a new O-line. He did that because LSU was confident in their defense, and the strategy forced Clemson to earn the win by scoring on long drives of which they could only sustain one in the game. Top to bottom a well thought out and executed game by the coaches and players.

The actual play designs were good for the most part and pretty creative.
It was more so when some of the plays were called which was turrible

Not changing my opinion. Joe Sloan is straight up booty.

We left the first half with 3 points. There were a lot of bonehead calls in the first half. Second half, he got it togrther.

based on what? you an expert? you have preconceived notions and dont know shite

He called an awesome game. We still leave too many points on the board when we get in kill shot range. This game had no business coming down to a 4th down stand at the end.

It was great playcalling to complement a great defensive performance. When/if our defense comes up short, I hope Sloan is capable of adjusting.

If you think Joe Sloan called a good first half, scoring 3 points, you don't know shite about football.
It improved in the second half but calling it a MasterClass is laughable.

Started slow and then it really picked up, the second half outside of the last few minutes was pretty fantastic.

Good enough to get a W against a good team? yes.
Masterclass? Get frickin' real.

Having Nuss get the ball out quick on screens and short passes was definitely a good strategy for this game. Thankfully the defense allowed them to stay with this strategy without having to get too risky.
I'm curious what difference Alex Atkins might've made as run game coordinator. I'm ignorant of X's and O's myself, but recall the scuttlebutt from some posters here who were saying our run game was unimaginative / uninspired last year, and who were hoping Atkins would bring some misdirection type plays or concepts that FSU was using, presumably under his guidance.
I'd guess the one Zavion highlight run where everyone went left and he ran right might be a good example. Not sure how different our run game looked otherwise (though Durham definitely showed good patience at times and showed a knack for gaining more than it looked like he was going to get... and that was fun to watch). And not sure how much credit would go to Atkins vs Sloan.

No one brings up BK when discussing Sloan.
No one here knows if BK limited the O on the first two drives of the game to play it safe to avoid an early mistake on the road in the first game.
No one knows if BK took his foot off the gas at the end of the game knowing he wanted the D to win it
And the drive before the half is all on BK for not kicking the FG…. But no one knows is Nuss checked out of the play that was called.

watch the videos on the twitter link posted. it goes over a bunch of the creative run plays and how we used misdirection and eye candy so well
every analysis is pretty much saying it was a master class but some guys here know better. they dont take into account drive killing penalties or fumbles....according to them sloan sucks and can never change.

Sloan not attacking the field between the hashes in the first half calling plays like he has no trust in his players like Nuss and his WRs sucked. The scoreboard showed it too with only 3 points.
Only when Sloan is forced to call plays to open up the field does he do so. His play calling needs to get more aggressive early. Not crazy aggressive, just use the entire field aggressive.

Or perhaps BK scripts the first two drives of every game and Sloan opens it up once the script is over or we get down on the scoreboard.
