Good part time jobs after retirement

Looking to retire in the next year or so, but also interested in working maybe 16 hours a week.
Anyone have any experience with good post retirement jobs that don’t require many hours?

I can't imagine closing in on retirement and busying myself with figuring out what kind of job I'm going to get after retirement.

Rental Car Driver Repositioner
You pick up rental cars from locations (or the airport) and bring them to a rental location and drop it off. You don't have to deal with the public since you only are driving from one location to reposition the car to another location. I think they only let you work about 20 hours a week. It's a bunch of old guys that do it.

This sounds funny, but I met this guy in his early 50s a while back. Married, normal guy.
His "part time job" was being a flight attendant on one or two cross-Atlantic flights per month.
I remember thinking, damn that sounds like a great fricking hack.

Nothing funny about it. Be such an easy job, give you something to do, and you would save thousands of dollars if travel was a thing you did a lot of.

I always thought I'd enjoy working at a gun shop or a hardware store maybe 2 days per week for awhile in retirement if I could find it.

I am applying to Bass Pro Shops or a local bait and tackle shop once I retire. That discount will come in handy and even more so if your launch fee is waived by being an employee.

got about 15 years til retirement I have a bucee's 20 mins from my house. I will go apply and work 3 days a week part time. This my legit plan

Yeah, it's literally just getting paid by the hour to drive a rental car. It's not a ton of money (like $15.00/hr) so it isn't worth it for most people. But old guys who want to get out of the house and make a couple hindered bucks, it's definitely worth it.

I knew someone who retired fairly young and worked for a dealership delivering cars to other dealerships and then would fly home. Seems like a pretty fun gig.

I agree, but also acknowledge that there is a huge difference between "I am nearing retirement and need to line up a PT job to help make ends meet" and "I am nearing retirement and want to find something fun to do so I don't get bored and become a home body"

How many hours per week do they make you work to get benefits? The only thing about retail is I wonder what shifts they give you. Since it’s 24 hours.

I wouldn't mind working a few days a week delivering parts to auto repair shops for Autozone or O'reilly's. It looks like it's usually old guys doing that sort of work.

If you didn’t care about being paid shitty wages, and you had money to travel a lot, it would be a very realistic retirement job. I think the international stuff is harder to get, but you don’t need to work much as a FA to keep your soft benefits.
