Check this out, shows some very good play designs by LSU on offense. These are impressive.

That was a Texas life belief win. We remain relatively healthy and we are winning it all. Give me that team we saw dismantle arguably the most “talented” roster in their home stadium against anyone in Tiger Stadium or on a neutral field in the playoffs. Was very cautious going into this season because of the oline, but the scheme complexity and Nuss’s improved decision making along with the oline holding up has me feeling nicey.
Still could drop one or two this regular season just because of the gauntlet but that win bought this team a lot of good will. I want to see how Nuss does after an interception or two and if he can avoid those random meltdown games he’s been prone to have. That Clemson game was just a massive step forward for the entire offense though.

I saw some things I don’t think I’ve ever seen before.

The two option swing pass was something I've never seen. They ran it 3-4 times. Really clever design.

I was there Saturday and I could not believe we ran the exact same play 3 straight times (#13 in the thread) and it worked every time.
Sloan deserves a lot of credit.

Sloan's misdirection stuff is good. It's the cautious overall approach that often leads to a lot of empty yards (i.e. lots of yards gained without a corresponding amount of points). LSU has multiple guys who are more "slot WRs". Anderson thrives between the hashes. Yet, far too often most of the passes are to the boundary rather than attacking between the hashes which has proven to be both the strength of Nussmier and many of his WR. In this game LSU's offense sputtered a lot in the first half. Where it picked up was when Sloan started to attack the middle of the field. He often calls games like he doesn't trust his personnel rather than realizing he has a great QB and damn good WRs to attack defenses.
The South Carolina game was a good example. LSU's offensive approach to start was conservative with passes to the boundary. Then, once LSU fell behind 17-0, Sloan had no choice but to go into attack mode. It's no coincidence when LSU started throwing between the hashes the offense immediately took off. Your WRs are good over the middle. Your QB is great at throwing crossing routes. Why tip-toe like you have a shitty QB until you realize the area of attack is between the hashes?
The overall running approach is just ineffective and basically comes down to if Durham can break a tackle in the backfield. The misdirection with WRs like Thomas taking handoffs in the backfield are great. But that should be more of a compliment than a necessity.
Sloan isn't necessarily a bad OC. But he's not an aggressive OC. That's fine when you have inferior personnel, but LSU doesn't. Compare that with Brady who would formation teams into bad matchups and attack from the jump. Luckily it looks like the defense is there to not put all of the pressure on the offense this year. But LSU has the "dudes" on offense to attack defenses. There's no need to be overly conservative in the approach until you are forced out of it.

The run concepts were great. He was determined to be successful running the ball anyway possible. Making up for Nuss not being Jayden. He’s improving.

They brought it up during the broadcast. Clemson gave them the same look all three times so Nuss just tossed it out there and let Juju stack 20 yards on 3 plays.

I think the whole plan for offense was to get the ball out quick…protect the line…that’s why it was only 2.1 seconds ball out average.
It was by design why we didn’t go deep much or have a lot of slow developing routes…
I thought it was an excellent game plan and play calling

One of these days, all of you average Joes on fricking Tigerdroppings are going to realize that you don’t have close to the understanding that you think you do when it comes to these modern, complex offenses
It’s hilarious to me that a good portion of you guys on this board think you know as much as these college coaches do. It’s absolutely absurd.

It’s directed at everybody. What are you gonna do about it?

We have some WR that sure dont mind doing some blocking. Very nice to see.

I never for a second thought that Sloan would turn a corner in playcalling after last season. Let’s hope that he can use that same creativity for the upcoming big matchups.
