Leaving Thursday for an Alaskan Cruise. Will be in ship Saturday and hope to be able to catch the LSU/Tech game somewhere on board but if not no big deal.

However, the following Saturday (LSU/Florida) part of our return flight is from San Francisco departing 6:30 to Dallas arriving 10 pm. Would be awesome if there is some way to stream game on flight. Flying United and I know I can purchase wi-fi but is it fast enough to stream my Dish Mobile App.
I have also read that you can purchase in flight entertainment which includes some sort of deal they have with DirectTV. Anyone had luck with either of these. I usually just read a book on flights so have never had to worry about this. Worst case is I watch the recorded on Sunday but would love to watch it live if possible.

Just turn the quality of the stream down to 480p. It's not like it will make a difference on your phone.

You should probably cancel your entire vacation.

Watching 19 year olds playing a game should take precedent

yes, it will be fine. If you have problems turn down the quality as someone above mentioned.

I find United’s wifi to be piss poor.. paid for it on an international flight a few months back and it wasn’t fast enough to watch youtube or much of anyhting else.. then again i didnt try reducing the quality.. also the Directv thing wasn’t offered, i dont think .. luckily i had some other stuff downloaded .

ETA Maybe try downloading the LSU/Florida game before ur flight takes off ………

If you can access youtube, you can watch the game. I saw at least 3 people steaming the game on youtube.

Spotty at best for sure, might not cut on until 30 minutes into your flight. And the TV/WiFi is plane dependant obviously. Not every plane will be big enough or have the service work.

I was about to say…it should be available on the plane for the coat of their headphones.

Depending on type of plane Delta has directtv onboard and shows live tv including ABC which FL game is on. Google Delta in-flight entertainment click on live tv and below the list of channels it shows the planes that have it.

That’s the odd thing about United.

International does not support streaming while domestic does.

Yes. You will be surprised at the quality of the stream.

That would be a sight to see. A plane connected to the ground to provide TV and internet services via coax cable.

Well no… and my life won’t come to an end if I miss the game. However since I’m stuck in a metal tube with nothing else to do during the exact time the game is on, just thought it would be cool if I could watch it.

I don’t fly often and when I have, I have never done anything that required wifi so just wasn’t sure what to expect. Sorry, I thought it was a pretty straight forward legit question. If you didn’t have anything constructive to add to the conversation you should have just kept your pie hole shut and moved on.

To everyone else, thank you for your comments and suggestions.

I hope it works out for you but if not, be sure to post videos of the fights on the boat.
