Looking for off the beaten path, not Gatlinburg or the like.

Willing to drive all day from New Orleans area.

Any recommendations for a remote vrbo or rental?

Is all day 7 hours or 13 hours?
Why are the Smokies off the list? You can easily get a place where you won't see any people except if you need groceries, and you can do stuff like actually hike.

Any places/cabins in particular? I guess because there are so many options there. Looking for something for 12 people.

Probably the smokies, or Hot Springs distance-wise.

Little Red River near Heber Springs in Arkansas an hour northeast of Little Rock would be a good choice

We rented a cabin near the Buffalo River in Ponca last summer and enjoyed the area. Didn’t deal with people unless we wanted to.

We stayed about 15 minutes outside of Blue Ridge, GA last year in Morganton and it was wonderful. Right on the side of the mountain. There are more people in the town during the summer, but still not bad. It was a fantastic trip.

Azalea Falls Lodge and Cabins near the Buffalo River is in the middle of nowhere. Bring your own food/supplies because it's a haul to stores/restaurants. Plenty of hiking and outdoors to enjoy. LINK

Bella Vista AR is a semi-rural neighborhood just north of Bentonville with plenty of STR homes, some on the lakes and many near the incredible mountain bike trail system. Good hiking and golf also available. Short drive to groceries and various citified stuff like Crystal Bridges Museum and nice restaurants in nearby Bentonville and Rogers.

not wooded cabins though. You will definitely be able to see your neighbors. Ponca AR and Broken Bow OK are much more rural.

Really? That’s too bad. We went in December 2019. It literally was like a hallmark show. We watched A Christmas Story performed at their small Holly Theater. We visited several wineries in the area. It was a great experience

I've done a lot of camping around emminence MO. If you really want to be in the middle of nowhere, i'd go there.

The Blue Ridge, Cherry Log, and Ellijay, GA area was fantastic. We have been back a couple of times. Small and laid-back mountain towns. Easy to find cabins away from the town itself.
