It’s been a thing for a while now but this opening weekend it seems likes it’s just been absolutely ridiculous.

CB obnoxiously does the seat belt move after a ball is thrown out of bounds over the WRs head and neither really had any chance to catch it.

RB breaks off a 10yd run, LB makes a normal tackle and jumps up like he stopped them on 4th and goal at the end of the game.

Is this just shitty parenting at a young age leading to this?

Seeing Major Burns dancing on the sideline at the end of the USCe game after getting abused for four quarters still pisses me off.

Clearly never played the game… I get being excited. You made a positive play is a hostile sport that is unforgiving. Be excited to break up a pass. Be excited to make a play. But I get the over excitement has reached a level in 2025 that is a direct result of social media. They want to be on a clip that is spread around. I do t hate players for being excited to make a play at any point in a game. But temper that and be professional about it.

They are all completely clueless to how foolish they look.

Score a TD, run over or stiff arm a few guys on a run, huge hit in the secondary, etc, I can see showboating it a little.

Celebrating every single tackle or every single first down is childish.

I have alot more respect for the players that hand or toss the ball to the ref and jog back to the formation like they’ve done 1000 times and are supposed to beat their man.

In the words of Bob Parr…

“It’s psychotic, they keep creating ways to celebrate mediocrity”

You would've hated the intensity of 80s CFB.

Fights in the tunnel, high-fiving, standing over players after a big hit, no celebration or taunting penalties invented yet by the powers that be. Oh and you REALLY would've HATED the U...

.
Getting a 1st down.

The worst is when players celebrate by giving the 1st down signal over and over. We get it. You made a first down but Be a professional and finish the drive. It’s even more annoying if the team is down big. I don’t want to see you make it about yourself if the team is losing and needs to play catch up.

Yep. 2nd and 2, RB makes a 2yd run and jumps up with the first down signal like he just won the game with a TD. These kids are dumb as frick lol

How you were able to grovel back and forth that many times in such a short amount of sentences is actually impressive

I didn’t say they shouldn’t celebrate. They just shouldn’t celebrate something that happens literally a 100 times a game or celebrate something that they had no hand in doing lol

It's ALL for the social media content. That highlight will be posted & shared & commented on.

In the age of NIL - that stuff = $$$

When Joe Horn played for the Saints I never understood his celebrations most of the time.

He'd catch the ball for a 1st down, jump up and celebrate like he just scored the game winning TD on the final play of the Super Bowl and in reality, all he did was catch a ball for a 1st down with the Saints behind by 3 TD's with 2 minutes to play in the game.

You post "lol" after every comment and want to complain about kids celebrating. Talk about hypocrisy
ETA: no adult says "lol" after everything. So frick off with your criticism of excited players

They continue to do it because the camera is on them everytime they do it.

Its all about attention. Stop showing every time they do it, and every thing they make after a play, and it will subside

Coach Kelly made a pointed comment mid-way through Fall camp about not liking such celebrations & Sat. nite against Clemson, as best as recall, LSU players' reactions were nothing like in the past. Mabe a few First Downs signals but no dancing after plays.

Only one team acted with such foolishness. Most of the time they were good enough to back up their buffoonery. Players today see it on ESPN 30 for 30 and think they should be acting the same even though they are the #2 receiver for PoDunk U and their team is on their way to a 7-5 record and the Duke's Mayo Bowl.
